Lol I wonder what the development of this movie is like
i mean its an interesting idea i'll give them that. an entire movie where the guy doesnt move?
Clutch or kick the movie
i mean its an interesting idea i'll give them that. an entire movie where the guy doesnt move?
No Man's Land (2001 film), it even won an Oscar. Not really about mines or war, but there is also Phone Booth (2002) where the guy is stuck because of a sniper.
If you're going to watch this movie I would advise against watching this trailer, I'm pretty sure the it spoiled at least half of the movie. As the resident Middle Eastern on these forums, I would like to say that sandstorms don't happen that fucking often. He was there for 52 hours and got struck by three megahuge sandstorms. Is that the Middle East or a location from Mad Max?
The land mine he stepped on is a dud. Something will happen and he will step off and there will be no boom.

Serious question if he like, laid his ruck down under him and like slide it over to where his foot was then like, laid his stomach over it and just sort off took the pressure off and let it blow would it save him since mines are mainly shrapnel? Like this? I'm being legit.

Holy shit it's real
There's another movie similar to this, except it's about a couple who are tourists with the husband stepping on a landmine, then some psychopathic guy takes advantage of the situation and tortures both of them.

I'll bet the twist at the end is that it was a dud.

I swear to god, if it ends with him steping on another one...
can any resident mine enthusiasts explain the question that I'm sure is on everyone's mind: Why can't you just attempt an Indiana Jones esce weight switch on the trigger?
Assuming those mines were placed there ages ago, and seeing how that area is prone to sandstorms, wouldn't the storm just set off/bury the mines..? That or maybe try to like get your knife through the rubber of the boot so your can use the knife as a means to apply pressure with your hands and remove foot. Then maybe play a game of Jenga with his all his equipment and pile on the knife so pressure is still applied. I have no idea what I'm talking about I'm retarded, have mercy

The overpressure from the explosion would probably be more than enough to kill you on its own, and those around you by turning your own bones into shrapnel Pretty sure these types of mines don't even exist, anyway. AP mines go off when pressure is applied, the end.
It's like the thing of letting off a firecracker on your hand when it's open as opposed to when it's closed, open you'll get hurt, maybe some skin being taken off, but nothing serious, hand closed, you'd lose your hand.

AP mines go off when pressure is applied, the end.
Depends entirely on the type of mine. Some detonate upon triggering, others don't, those that dont may be bounding mines but the trailer shows this may not be the case. [editline]17th February 2017[/editline] It may also be a faulty mine with a damaged trigger, in which case stepping off may be a secondary trigger mechanism designed to ensure detonation.

He'll finally get off the mine, and start walking into the sunset, at which point he'll be smashed into the ground by a truck made of other trucks being chased by yet more trucks.

plottwist he actually stepped on a spider that went crunch
Why would people design a mine that went off when pressure was released?
The land mine he stepped on is a dud. Something will happen and he will step off and there will be no boom.
A dud?!? [t]https://i.ytimg.com/vi/EHXgsXF0auQ/maxresdefault.jpg[/t]

[editline]17th February 2017[/editline]
Also Buried, has Ryan Reynolds in it. Like the entire movie is him in an enclosed space. If you guys want a movie with good suspense and thrill involving soldiers and mines watch Kajaki(Kilo Two Bravo for those in the US). I expected a movie with action but got a thriller instead. Was a pleasant surprise.
damn you
Why would people design a mine that went off when pressure was released?
Its either: Faulty, relying on secondary trigger Bouncing Betty, so the user's gotta get outta the way first and not realize its a BB Booby trapped. I'm dead serious. Some mines were designed to act like it could be disarmed but in reality its waiting for a second guy to attempt a disarm so it kills both of them.
I remember seeing a TV episode of a cop or S.W.A.T. type of show where the main story of the episode was that a guy stepped on a kind of mine/boobytrap and the rest of the episode was everyone else trying to figure out a way to get him off alive. You'd be surprised how exciting you can make a story about a guy who literally doesn't move the majority of the script.
