They shouldn't have done it with Metal Gear, the most story intense series ever. If he handles it well which I'm sure he will due to the internet lynch mob being ready, it's okay in my book.

The fear is that trolls will watch it and intentionally spoil it for others.

Being old and popular hardly excuses casual spoilers. There are hundreds of games that are old and popular.
The comparison to star wars with FF is fair but yeah, 1 situation.
