Always happy to see Furi get some respect. If you thought it looked interesting and want to try it out, I have a humble key! Edit it's taken but the game's still great and you should try it!
really need to get off my ass and play hollow knight
really need to get off my ass and play SUUUUPER MARIO BROTHERS TWO
ftfy
really need to get off my ass and play hollow knight
Can't recommend it enough
"What Remains of Edith Finch feels like a game adaptation of Gone Home" #shotsfired
Hey, thank you so much! I've wanted to play this game for a while!
I saw that link and I was gonna redeem it but then though "meh, I don't have time to play anyways, someone else should enjoy it instead". so thank me too :v:
You'll never believe #1
His Doom vs other shooters explanation with mspaint is so spot on.
SUPER MARIO BROS 2 BABEEEEEEE
His Doom vs other shooters explanation with mspaint is so spot on.
Doom was great for that, it was a visceral, high-speed experience. Going fast not only is viable, it makes it a much more awesome ride like a rollercoaster. Titanfall 2 does much the same thing where actually being out and mobile, running and gunning, is very rewarding and often times a better way to play than playing it as a cover shooter. Its great to have a game that says, "Get the fuck out there and fuck them all up." and rewards you not just mechanically with health and ammo but with amazing visuals that get you fucking pumped and feel like the biggest badass.
really need to get off my ass and play hollow knight
get ready to be playing it for a long ass time cause my first non-100% playthrough took me 25 fuckin hours. i still can't grasp the sheer amount of effort that went into that game, good fucking lord it's ENORMOUS. and also amazing, that too
Doom (2016) is actually brilliant because of the way the mechanics subtly force that fast-paced-get-in-the-action playstyle. In any other game, if you take damage, you have to run behind a wall to regen or go scrounge for health packs (Which, you know, can sometimes be fine depending on what sort of game you're tying to make.) In this, if you're low on health the solution is to run further into danger to get the glory kill. Restated, most FPS games encourage you to play carefully when health is low; Doom (2016) turns that on its head by encouraging you to play even more riskily than you were before. That's brilliant game design.
Took me 40 hours to 100% my first playthrough.
yea 40 seems to be the number I see tossed around a lot for reaching 100%. shit's nuts. also, it needs to be mentioned that Hollow Knight has already released 2 FREE (tho short) expansions, with plans for still more to come, including an entire new campaign where you play as Hornet which I think is actually gonna be decent sized. there's really no reason not to get it if you even slightly enjoy metroidvania games.
Doom 2016 is alright. I feel its main issue is main issue is ts always locking you into rooms with demons rather than short skirmishes. This results in combat zones one after the other with very few breaks in some areas, which made the combat feel like a bit of a chore.
I'm so excited that [sp]Super Mario Bros 2[/sp] won #1. It truly is a feat for Nintendo to have such an excellent game as it. It's so feature rich with the multiple ways to control and fine tune how you play. Dunkey has fantastic taste.
I played Doom on PS4 and got through it OK on ultra-violence but holy fuck this is kicking my ass in nightmare on PC. The polygon player had a better pace than me with all the dying I was doing
Also that article Dunkey showed which mentioned Darksouls 1 sold 2.3 million copies after 30 months made me realize that Cuphead, the game people keep randomly fuckin associating with Darksouls, has sold 10 times faster than Darksouls did lol (reached +2.3 million earlier this month, ~3 months post release). I mean yea sure it has the benefit of PC sales from launch which last I heard accounts for ~60% of the sales, but still, shits nuts.
Honestly a shame I'm not seeing Divinity original sins 2 on more top 10 lists As someone who is meh about RPGs and D&D, and with a brother who hates rpgs + DnD we have sunk around 50 hours into the game and not even come close to completing it I would recommend this game to anyone that is even remotely interested in rpg games

Divinity:OS2 is incredible. I'm getting Furi tonight based on Dunkey's recommendation and that fuckin' awesome music snippet.
I feel like once Hollow Knight comes out on the switch, sales are going to skyrocket.
I feel like once Hollow Knight comes out on the switch, sales are going to skyrocket.
currently holding out for that, feels like it'd be a great game to add to my (exclusively Mario Odyssey) collection BOTW and Odyssey are seriously some of the most memorable games I've played in the past ~5 years. Hot damn Nintendo, more please. Also Nier x10000. It's funny how much more natural Superhot seems in VR, also.
Divinity:OS2 is incredible. I'm getting Furi tonight based on Dunkey's recommendation and that fuckin' awesome music snippet.
Of course it's amazing. The composer is carpenter motherfuckin brut baby

Maybe its because I haven't been spending quite as much on vidya games this year but it felt like a weak-ish year for me. BOTW was good. Odyssey was pretty dang good, but I found it getting kind of monotonous at times with the sheer amount of collectibles. Had to cut myself off after the [sp]real final level[/sp] to prevent myself from going all completionist. Two of my favorite games on his list, FURI and DOOM were from 2016. I'm also mainly a shooter dude, and shooters were super weak this year in comparison to 2016. That's probably most of it, I was genuinely sort of excited for Destiny and Battlefront.
Of course it's amazing. The composer is carpenter motherfuckin brut baby
yea that might be my favorite track from the OST (which is good because that boss fight is especially fuckin hard, good lord). For those that don't know tho the OST is made up of a bunch of different composers who, for the most part, did two bosses each. Incredibly they all did a totally amazing job and the OST alone is worth picking up https://furi.bandcamp.com/
I played Furi like months ago. I still listen to the OST daily. It's so good.
for a second there i thought maybe this year he forgot about super mario brothers 2 i was wrong
