New Simpsons is basically nostalgia porn from when they were good. There's plenty of callbacks in each episode to fill in the parts where funny should be.
Not a very exciting intro, but damn all that nostalgia bait. The old TV, Linguo in the cave behind Lisa, the boiler that exploded and Homer's 'robot' suit he used in Robot Rumble in the dump. Even the fucking hedge Homer turned into a Marge replacement when he was going crazy from missing her/to keep Maggie occupied.
All the references is what makes this tolerable, 0:17 they just give up and paste the audio in from the AT intro and it just doesn't sync well with whats on the screen.
it's like they're trying to cargo cult the simpsons now
they're bringing up all this old shit to say "hey we're still the simpsons" in some kind of attempt to maintain enough legitimacy to stay on the air

It was getting real dumb in season 6 but season 7 has been good imo
