Tower Unite is a game being developed by PixelTail Games, which is made up of Facepunch's very own MacDGuy, GameDev, and other team members that may or may not have Facepunch accounts.
Since the game will be hitting Early Access on April 8, here are some tutorial videos the team whipped up.

The condo customization pretty much has me hooked.
will there only be twenty condos again so everyone rushes them when it first opens up
that condo customization is really sexy
please add the ability to snap item placements to edges of entities/map
and sell a fake wall entity that behaves exactly like the real ones in customization except can be custom sized

i've heard rumours that they are local servers you connect to, that can send data to the server you left from to have a door placement
gmod's door limit was because gmod seamless local hosting = no bueno
1 question: How much? (£)
Will be the deciding factor for me.

I think it's $15, if I remember correctly.
Holy shit yeah I backed the original kickstarter so I've always been interested in this, but these demo videos sold me more than I already was so I'm definitely looking forward to this

TU handles the condo situation differently than GMT.
Your condo is a separate instance from the lobby, meaning you can load into it whenever you want (even from the main menu).
You can choose to associate your condo with a lobby server so that people can still visit your condo, and you can still chat with people from the lobby server while you are in your condo.
How many people can have their condos associate with a server, you may ask?
well...

It's gonna look a bit like this.

Correct.
I didn't have any money to back this game during it's kickstarter, and I loved playing Gmod Tower back when it was much more active, can't wait to buy it myself.
Fair price considering the potential. Nice.
I feel like this whole thing loses a lot of its charm by not being in Gmod anymore

I'm just going to miss the skins, which is understandable, though, considering that they're from other copyrighted works.
you can mod it though right
you can mod it though right
Tower Unite will eventually have Workshop support.
This means custom items/props for sure, and most likely player models and maps (maybe).
They haven't disclosed too much more than that about the workshop.

Honestly I think it being seperated from gmod is ultimately a good thing. Gmod Tower became quite a bit bloated towards the end, and required you to download so many things to join it.
It was fun, but I feel moving on to Tower Unite is for the best.

Whenever I tried to join a match of any game, I'd spend so much time at "Sending Client Info" that the games would be mostly over by the time I got in.
I wonder if there will be any benefits for previous donators on the gmod tower.

Previous donors will receive a "Legacy VIP Basket" which acts as a condo decoration. If you've seen that Wine Basket in Garry's Mod Tower, you'll know what it looks like in Tower Unite.
Whether or not it functions as it did in Garry's Mod Tower is yet to be seen, so I don't know if it works like infinite beer or something.
Also, I believe that donors from GMT will receive a 10% (or was it 15%?) off coupon for Tower Unite.
And, if you played Garry's Mod Tower back when the map was still Lobby 1, then you get the commemorative plate in Tower Unite.
Which reminds me, anything earned from Garry's Mod Tower will be transferred to Tower Unite.
If the item isn't present in Tower Unite, then you will receive the worth of the item in Units (Tower Unite's currency). This includes all items in your condo, inventory, backpack/vault, hats, and even the condo upgrades from Lobby 2.
I believe you will get the choice as to whether or not you want to start fresh or get your GMT value transferred to Tower Unite.

Thats quite impressive. I was never expecting any sort of item saving from GMT.

I wish the devs of AAA games treated their loyal players this nicely.
I hope it has shitloads of skins
I wanna be liberty prime with animu cat ears

Like others have said, trademarked characters and items will have to be community-made to stay in legal safety.
Thats quite impressive. I was never expecting any sort of item saving from GMT.
Originally there was no item saving but people complained hard so they added it in.
Is it still running the Source engine or am I looking at Unreal?
[sp]It's unreal[/sp]
i love tower unite
shout out to the devs
we love ya too <3

Gmod Tower was literally pushing the boundaries of the Source Engine/Garry's Mod. You could literally feel the game crying while playing it.
I'm glad that it's going standalone with a more modern engine. Standalone means functionality can be coded in natively rather than through scripting languages like (G)LUA meaning hopefully better performance and more stuff.
Which reminds me, anything earned from Garry's Mod Tower will be transferred to Tower Unite.
note that there's an exchange rate implemented to accommodate for the new item prices in tower unite, so your gmt units won't be 1:1 when transferring over. nothing super drastic though, we want everyone who's put in time on tower to be properly compensated
Is it just me or do the character models look like they were made in Fuse?
Is it just me or do the character models look like they were made in Fuse?
They are. They are a temporary solution, though, so don't expect them to stay.
