A lot better than what the descriptions made it seem like, though still worried about that plot
Hm.
Looks like it might be half decent
is her titty suit supposed to not look at all real
is her titty suit supposed to not look at all real
Yea. It's just a skintight suit used for her invisibility tech.
Yea. It's just a skintight suit used for her invisibility tech.
no but the cgi is bad and it doesn't look like it's part of the scene. like it is missing a few passes
looks really good
plus eyy they gave batou his eyes
those big holograms when you see the city from above, that looks cringy.
very cringe
batou's eyes look stupid in live action.
This makes me want to rewatch the series more than it makes me want to see the movie.
something about the sub-par cgi and the costumes makes this look like a low-budget fan film on youtube
its gonna suck
Well fuck me sideways the visuals are amazing
Stupid plot, should have been about any of the villains in the anime and that would have been fine.
batou's eyes look stupid in live action.
I would say that they didn't really do his eyes too well and just made them too small for the actors face.
Sadly, I think it's going to be a bunch of small things that turn me off of this movie; though, I'll still go see it just because.
I don't like how she says "you should've built me better". In Ghost in the shell, they never refer to cyborgs like that. It's a prosthetic body. A cyborg referring to a body as "me" while also acknowledging it's a machine is like you referring to your car as if it was you. It's basically just a tool of transportation.
The movie just feels off to me. It comes across as a dumb action flick made by people who don't understand the source material.
Batou's eyes look stupid in the anime as well.
fite me irl
[sp]they look extra stupid here though[/sp]
I've never seen GITS or read the manga so the trailer looked interesting to me. Hopefully the CGI is bad because of this being the first trailer. I like the cyberpunk elements for sure.
Fans will hate it judging from some reactions here, but I can see this being a moderate succes when it releases.

It's pretty clear that the movie won't be as great as original 1995 Ghost In The Shell. It's pretty hard to remake the same feeling (hell even recent anime couldn't do that), but I'm still excited for this movie.
Its weird to see something originally an anime in Japan airing on the big screens in the west as a live action film.
Last time that happened was uh....

This is gonna be another one of those movies that is half decent but you're unable to actually enjoy it because the director decided to make it their own adaptation instead of following the formula 1:1 and it'll be a frozen day in hell before purist fanboys let that slide.
I think it will be good enough, but, i cant really miss the changes that make this movie feel a little bit underworld/resident evil like, and thats a very occidental/american way of making films.
First of all, theres a massive effort into making the film look "cool". In that sense, theres a lot of time, shots and moments that the only purpose is to enhance the amusing factor, like the slow motion shots, or all the "hero" shots the characters get that only focus on making them look bad ass, cool and awesome, and not only the shots but the casting, the lines, everything circles around that, with the music enhancing that kind of feeling, instead of awe or strange sensations that the anime did.
Second, theres little to no effort to make us feel out of a movie, in fact, every piece of cinematography that works on that is shamelessly pushing that. An example, the entire trailers doesnt contain any big wide shot of the characters going around it, without them feeling like in a little greenscreen box that wont allow them any move in 5 meters or more. The same happened with the assassins creed trailer, piece by piece.
No real ambient, just 7x7 greenscreens AND with only face shots and medium shots at max.
This formula doesnt allow to get the original movie point along, it deflects from it. The same happened with the Total Recall remake.

Wasn't Edge Of Tomorrow also based on anime?
Wasn't Edge Of Tomorrow also based on anime?
It was based on a japanese light novel called All You Need is Kill.
Not sure if there's an anime for it.

Following the source material closely isn't always the best idea. Luke Cage had that issue, and in the end they took from the source what few things they could realistically work with and retconned the remaining 90% of the source material and Luke Cage is absolutely fantastic, a movie doesn't have to follow the source religiously to be good in it's own right. This is hollywood though, and as Keitaro said a lot of small things are going to be bad that will make this off putting.

It almost looks like they've taken a mash of the first two movies and SAC then thrown a different overarching plot over it. I'm up for a new spin on it though, just hope it's still GiTS
-snip-
I was worried after the last trailer but seems like a lot of love has been put into the designs/sets.
Never thought i'd see the day ghost in the shell was in a cinema tbh so im happy.
