Why would they do this? The essence system was fine. Also I had a shit load of essence, so what happens to that? What value does it have now? Googled for myself: Essence is being converted to gold on a 1:1. Gold is used to unlock heroes (which is useless if you bought the founders pack, because the founders packs unlocks all current and future heroes). The only other thing it's used for is [I]buying loot chests.[/I] smfh As if having micro-transactions in a beta game wasn't bad enough.

What makes this worse is that you didn't have to level your cards up before, you could run a 1 point or a 4 point card as long as you didn't exceed the point limit of 12 and had all the slots filled.

The PTS timespan of this patch is 1 week so they have a lot of time to backpedal, which they'll probably do.

Hi-rez is listening to the feedback, but from what it seems they are still trying to make the new card system work. Better off scraping the whole system.

In other news, some of the new cards added in this patch are absolutely fucking stupid. With this new system, a lvl5 of the new Lex card allows you to shave off 72% of someone's max health with a single use of the RMB ability, which for Lex is an autoaim click to win ability. Not to mention the bugged Inara card that lets her do 22k dmg if she hits all 3 shots of her LMB burst lmao.

Maybe they should create cosmetics actually worth buying (only a few are good) and not put them behind lootboxes if they're cash strapped.

So much for thinking of paladins as "fun overwatch"
