All his liked videos heavily feature trumpets, this guy actually just loves playing. All of his videos have a little dedication at the bottom like "to the armed forces" and stuff. The overwhelming majority of his vids say "All For For My Beautiful Wife !" I'm going to cry, this man is precious.
found this on a different video of his
Patrick, I've been playing trumpet for 53 years. I suffer from slight emphozima and a nervous condition . Also I have 7 teeth left and I play with an upper plate and my jaw clinched , lower jaw past top. If I play in a military posture my horn angle is about 30 degrees from horizontal up. I can play any trumpet mouth piece. Presently I'm playing a tiger plastic trumpet and Warburton plastic mouth piece. I play every rendition by feel and ear and early in my life studied formally . Thank you so much for your concern , suggestions, and encouragement ! Sincerely , Charles ( Chick ) LaPorta.
yep never making fun of this guy
I played trumpet growing up, and I actually think this guy is pretty good. you'll note in watching the videos that he actually fairly frequently hits a note and nails it, and he produces good sound while doing so. where he has difficulty is the transition between the notes, which I hypothesize might be due to his age. when playing trumpet you need to be able to nail really quick simultaneous movements for your tongue, lips, and fingers. all movement needs to be snappy. what i think is happening is that his age has affected his ability to actually change notes (such as possible arthritis in the hands making it more difficult to hit the valves both directly straight down and quickly enough to make the transition seem seamless, and just age labouring his ability to make the precise lip aperture for each note). a primary reason i say this is that he's hitting pretty high notes on that trumpet. high notes on a trumpet require serious pressure and power to hit, your lip is practically pursed to a needle's width for that kind of shit and it requires serious training to do it well. and he nails some high notes especially on the star stangled banner. this guy is pretty cool tbh

The fact that he's still willing to basically siphon air from his lungs through the trumpet despite having emphysema is pretty impressive. All in all I just noticed that he struggled actually making the notes come out at all because of his bad lungs.
