To be honest, I don't have much to say about this other than it's a very heartwarming and fun 52 minutes and you can tell it meant a lot to the cast to do this panel. That's all. Enjoy!
God damn it, I had almost forgotten about Firefly The pain always comes back to haunt me :(
There's a special place in hell for the network execs that cancelled firefly
That was awesome. Firefly's My second favorite show under Doctor Who. I wish they would do another season now that they know how popular it is. And somehow pretend Serenity never happened since [sp]a few main characters died.[/sp]

It ruined a lot of the development of the characters throughout the series, for instance River in the movie was just super awesome kick ass chick and Simon was having fist fights with Malcolm which was totally contrasting to his character who was very calm and passive. Not to mention Malcolm really seems to dislike Simon, whereas during the series he grows to see him as part of his crew and they clearly are friends. During Serenity from the get go he just wants to throw him off the ship, which seems to make no sense considering they just built up a friendship over the course of a season. Of course that's because Whedon had to work with newcomers to the series, it's sad seeing how crammed together that was but yet Whedon managed to make a great movie. The series really needs a return, it would be massive. Whoever airs that is sitting on a gold mine.
There's a special place in hell for the network execs that cancelled firefly
The same place for rapists, child molesters, and people who talk at the theatre.
I love the shit out of Firefly, but to think it will ever return is just wishful thinking. The actors have gotten older and have moved on to new projects. It's hard to accept but it's the cold hard truth. That said, I'm not saying it couldn't come back, they could bring the franchise back, just not as a TV show anymore.
There's a special place in hell for the network execs that cancelled firefly
It wasn't just the executives that cancelled the show that are to blame it's the whole fuck up from the get go. For instance the episodes were aired out of order, you can notice this because most online streams of the series (yes I own a DVD now before you complain) have the episodes also out of order. This was because Fox thought it was better to have a completely unintelligible first episode because it was action packed, even if they didn't introduce any of the character or any of their motivations, it was incredibly stupid. It seems Fox only thinks people like action and guns not intelligent and well directed shows with good characters. Just look at this: -Episode 2 = Aired First (September 20th) -Episode 1 = Airs after Objects in Space, Episode 14 (December 20th) That's insane the first episode aired after the last episode, that's the dumbest thing I've heard, and the last episode Objects in Space (Episode 14) isn't even in order, that was aired before the previous 3 episodes 11,12,13, and "Ariel" (9th episode) was aired after the "Safe" (5th episode), It's obvious why both episodes were aired earlier because they were more action orientated, especially Ariel. This doesn't make sense because Simon by this point in Ariel understands more about River wheras in the episodes that air afterwards he knows nothing. Clearly Fox tried to amend it's giant fuck up thinking it lost rating simply because the show wasn't engaging rather because people couldn't make heads or tails of the story. In otherwords fox tried to fix the mess up by repeating the error they already had committed to by airing the first episode out of order. There reason to cancel was completely inevitable, the ratings were dreadful in comparison to the shows cost, obviously we know where that blame lies. But I mean even with that low viewer base it was clear the show had gravity, directly prior to the cancellation there was already a Firefly Immediate Assistance group who tried as hard as they could to keep the show afloat. It's dumb, they had the balls to claim the show wasn't getting ratings after already ripping the shows balls off.
I had a smile on my face from start to finish, that was great.
I had a smile on my face from start to finish, that was great.
Same, and I think I actually got a little watery-eyed at the end. Then again, I think everyone on the panel was on the verge of tears about 70% of the time. It's nice to know that they love the show and the fans as much as we love them.
If I recall correctly, didn't Whedon say that if Firefly wasn't cancelled Wash would still be alive? http://www.826nyc.org/interview/Joss_Whedon_interview.mp3 Here.
fuck everything forever [editline]19th July 2012[/editline] they haven't aged a bit they can still totally do it
fuck everything forever [editline]19th July 2012[/editline] they haven't aged a bit they can still totally do it
Actually, if you watch the most recent episode of Castle then watch the first episode of Firefly, you can totally see how much Nathan Fillion has aged. Not that it's a bad thing, because Nathan Fillion is still the best damn actor ever and anyone who says otherwise is objectively wrong.

Look at him in Full Metal Jacket and then see him in something very recent like Chuck. Can barely tell the difference. But Nathan definitely let himself go a bit (Dat belly) [editline]19th July 2012[/editline]
If I recall correctly, didn't Whedon say that if Firefly wasn't cancelled Wash would still be alive? Whatever Nathan just needs to run a couple laps it's totally fine

I didn't know the firefly comics were such a huge hit, unlike what comic con has become with twilight and ghost whisperer firefly deserves to be at comic con.
Adam Baldwin is immortal. No doubt about it.

Except lexx was shit anyway.
