This is the fourth of fifth time I've seen this video and I have to agree, it's like people are trying to reach for a gaffe. Dude got thirsty so he took a drink.

The awkwardness is that usually it's a glass of water at waist or chest level, this was off to the side in a commercial bottle.

You have to watch it live. Constant lip smacking climaxing to an awkward reach for a sip of water while trying to maintain eye contact with the camera. Although I'd agree that it was given a little more attention than needed, it was still pretty funny to watch and even the guy joked about although you could tell he's just trying to lessen the blow.

it isn't that he went to take a drink of water, but that he did it in the most awkward way possible. there's nothing wrong with quenching your thirst, but don't bend over to the side of the camera to grab some water bottle while giving a death stare to the camera.
the fact that he did it incredibly quickly as if trying to hide that he is taking a drink is really awkward as well. he should have calmly grabbed it, taken a drink, set it down, and gone on with his speech.
His smile is so awkward.
It's like the face you do when you get caught doing something.
