The high school I went to was at least like 70% mormon so they made this video because some girls were complaining the dress code was too strict. It's back from 2013 but i just remembered it existed and for some reason it has 600k views now
I lived through 4 years of this and similar antics
Short skirts are hot wtf
Its a pretty good cover, but it's 3 and a half minutes of "Hey baby, you should follow my religion."
"girls with integrity are hard to find these days"
boy can this video get fucked!
What a sorry bunch of losers.

Also the subtle implication that only women who dress modestly respect themselves.
we have different definitions of subtle then

It's about as subtle as the Mormons get.
It has a rather alarmingly large amount of positive feedback
"you'd understand why I need your modesty"
What I got from this video is that women should dress modestly because these men want them to, and that women who want to show their skin don't respect themselves.
So yeah, fuck right off.
I went to high school in Logan, UT. Yep, seems it hasn't changed much since I moved to California. Girls would be given huge school sweaters if they showed even a little cleavage.
:O
My face literally the entire video. Thanks for top cringe, I'm gonna go shower.
I really don't get why conservatives/religion in general is so averse/inhibited towards sexuality and obsessed with the concept of "modesty". I mean for christ's sake "you should be happy how you are" isn't covering yourself up to impractical degrees (like wearing a sweater in blazing heat) the opposite of "being happy with yourself"?
Really, when they were writing the first religious texts, where the hell did they get that idea from?
It has a rather alarmingly positive amount of feedback
From both men and women as well. I was expecting the feedback to be male dominated.

Also, the idea that covering your body makes you in some way virtuous is absurd. True virtue is not conscious of itself as virtue.
ugh, nice guys always finish last amma right
*fixes fedora and teleport away*
bunch of dickheads :v: hope they get roasted for this
I like the line "being the way that you are is enough" and the message that you shouldn't dress just to impress men in a song all about how you should dress a particular way to please men.

Fuck me, it's harmless fun and I had a good time laughing at the video and I don't doubt that they had a good time making it. But it's just so fucking sexist.

That it appears so normal for them is what worries me
Geeze Utah Mormons are weird. When my Dad lived in Utah one told him he couldn't get into heaven because he drank caffeinated soda and had a beard.
What a bunch of hypocritical fuckwads, wouldn't surprise me if these bible thumpers jack off each night to porn.
I went to Logan recently and can confirm they are still strange ass mormons all over the place. My fiance who has tattoos got all sorts of crusty looks and it was genuinely unpleasant buying liquor from the store. Hell if they can't build beautiful temples though.

I found it amusing how strict the schools in Cache Valley were for dress code. I can understand the appeal of modesty, but demanding it to such extremes is too much. Though given the nature of parents and religious dominance, only slow and gradual change can occur in the area.
I appreciated the change of scenery when I started attending USU.
Utah is weird...

Yeah, local culture doesn't take too kindly to 'deviants'. But I'd imagine the same holds true for most other local cultures as well. If you can pass off as 'normal', then it's a nice place to live.
Friendly communities and really low crime rates here. Great if you're into outdoor activities as well.
I'm glad I got out of going to Mormon church early as possible. I do live with in a 15 minute drive of this ward and seeing this reminds me why I hate everything about living in Utah.
Black dude's the only one who can sing, they should've let him cover the whole thing.
YouTube loves this, btw.

I'm curious: why the hate? I no longer attend, but I don't have any ill feelings towards most who do. I disagree with a number of their beliefs and find some to be rather backwards, and dislike those that take their beliefs too far, but the same goes for just about any other religion or ideology.

As I understand it, modesty and sexuality is closely tied with the concept of purity. So the less modest and more sexual you are, the more 'impure' you are. This phrase is drilled into everyone: "My body is a temple." So as long as you follow that, it's a boost to your self-esteem.
But yeah, I agree with you. It's your body, so you're free do what you want with it.
♫ Everyone else doesn't seem to grammar! Everyone else but you! ♫
Saw the thumb nail. Not even going to bother looking at it.
The key to being normal in life is moderation.
Too much of anything is unhealthy. These dudes are just proving that theory.
(kids in suits and dress clothes is so fucking cringey to me for some reason.)
Yep, enjoy that first awkward, painful, uncomfortable sex on your wedding night. I'm sure it's an absolute blast... in 3 seconds.
