Probably my favourite fight scene in the entire series.
I fucking loved Maul in Clone Wars, and this fight was amazing. His latest iteration on Rebels is lame imo.

Are you kidding? Season finale was probably the best episode of the series.
He was pretty badass in that.
It's super weird to me that Sidious is this really agile and competent swordsman, I thought his deal was that he was kind of a frail old man with crazy powerful force powers.
Regardless, cool fight.
I have yet to watch this series, but damn these fights are awesome
Here is another good one.

The Clone Wars and Rebels did some serious justice for Maul as a character and I'm glad it's all considered canon.
The animation is really weird to me and it makes it hard to watch. It's simultaneously too fast and weirdly floaty. Nothing seems to have any momentum and it makes it really unsatisfying.
This was one of my favorite fights, two trained dark side users going up against each other, the Master against his previous apprentice with one wildcard in the mix, such a treat.
This is something that's always bugged me about prequel related SW stuff, I liked that there was what seemed like delineation between Yodas/palpatines and Anakins/mauls. Then the prequels happen and EVERYONE with a light saber began elaborate dance duets until one person lets the other kill them
Thankfully the season finale for Rebels showed the clear difference in styles. Vader has his more blunt fencing style of combat he's known for, albeit a little more agile than in the movies, while [sp]Ahsoka[/sp] embodies the Jedi styles from the prequels with sheer mobility.

1:14. Fucking helicopter lightsabers.
There's a point when you have to admit that Sheev is just overpowered as fuck. Who fucking does moves like this?

can someone explain how The Emperor was on starkiller levels of strength and dexterity while in the end of return of the jedi, he was Vader's bitch.

I remember watching it live in a stream, everybody was laughing and hype for the helisabers.
It was a rollercoaster I tell you, I'm glad they at least went all the way with it instead of doing it once, shows spine.

Ego, pretty much.
It can be narrowed down to the fact he became more and more tunnel visioned from when the empire was formed to that stage, he was simply caught off guard and didn't expect it to happen.
Also movie logic, you can't question it.

"I'll try spinning, that's a good trick!"

Age is my guess. More than 20 years since Vader's birth, sitting on the throne for a long time with no enemies tends to wear on the body. Also the original trilogy was first depicting Palpatine as a powerful sorcerer and a great manipulator rather than a fighter and Lucas might have changed that idea for the prequels. I like to imagine him to be this powerful force user that by snapping his fingers you'd be gone.

The fight itself still retains its narm charm, but if he did that "spin to win" move just a tad further he'd actually hit something and it would look awesome. But nooo...he just lands close to them and stabs a master. Boooo!
