Wanted to know what everyone thought about this game... People are calling it 'a blend of minecraft and dayz', etc; basically it has a lot of survival elements to it while keeping a voxel-ish style. There is an early alpha being released soon (this month) to people who paid for the game before their kickstarter. They are an indie company, just a few guys. The concept is not the most original but they do seem to have a few interesting features, although it looks a bit dated. Hopefully by full release they will mop it up. You can support their kickstarter here; http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/7daystodie/7-days-to-die-zombie-survival-game I apologize if this has already been posted
It looks like Rust.
It looks like Rust.
No, we can use this as bait to draw out and destroy the Rust subforum in one fell swoop if we play this right.
Looks cool. At least they get the idea. I can't wait til the day the first really really good zombie survivla/rpg will arrive.

If this is pre-alpha and they continue to work on this heaps, this could be a big one
They used a Clot from Killing Floor at 0:14.
Animations aren't very good, and something about this game just seems... Off. Also we really need to cut back on zombie games, it's getting ridiculous.
"Learn to hunt" as he runs up and blasts the animal at point blank. :v:
It looks like Rust.
It looks like it puts rust to shame.
Can't wait to see the regret to those guys who bought rust account and keys when they see this :v:
It looks like Rust.
7 Days to Die has so much more to it. Imo it looks pretty good. The footage was pre-alpha and it already has a lot going for it. It seems much more in-depth than all of the games that came before it.
People are tossing this word voxels around too loosely. Just because the building part of the game is based on a cube grid doesnt mean its voxels. Cubeworld though, that's a true voxel game
"Voxel based" It quite clearly uses polygons.
You guys are misinterpreting the use of the world 'voxels' in this case. Just because the world isn't strictly made out of cubes doesn't mean it doesn't use voxel based generation. Medical MRI scanners use smoothed out voxels to generate 3D cat scans, and video game engines such as the Voxel Farm Engine use tiny, smoothed out voxel blocks to generate terrain as realistic as any polygon based engine. Just because something isn't made out of cubes doesn't mean it doesn't use voxels, that's the difference between the rendering technique and the art style.
"Learn how to hunt" Proceeds to run and chase the animal* with a fucking shotgun shooting it a few times. [editline]23rd July 2013[/editline] Other then that, this looks like a lot of fun with friends.
I think you need some help if you think thats a deer
Just because something isn't made out of cubes doesn't mean it doesn't use voxels, that's the difference between the rendering technique and the art style.
Indeed. Voxels still get converted into poly cubes before rendering. While voxel is a cube, the geometry you generate from it doesn't have to be. It still uses voxels to generate that geometry but with some filtering applied. Though I don't see how it matters if it uses voxels or not. When you say voxels to people, most of them will think minecraft or something, which gets the idea across.
Project Zomboid is pretty good.
I bought PZ two years ago In its current state, it's too buggy and inconsistent to play for any length of time, but it shows a huge amount of potential, and from what I've seen of the developers, I'm pretty sure they can pull through and will eventually deliver a mind-blowing final product that will be incredible.
I'm seriously tired of zombies.
It looks like Rust.
i'm fairly certain this game was actually announced quite a while before rust [editline]23rd July 2013[/editline]
I'm seriously tired of zombies.
so don't play it?
I know it's pre-alpha but I have a bad feeling it's not going to really look better "enough" by the time it is finished
I really hope they find a better animator.
I know it's pre-alpha but I have a bad feeling it's not going to really look better "enough" by the time it is finished
I got the same feeling, this is pretty close to what it will probably look like. Hopefully the animations will improve because I'd say thats their biggest setback
There's a lot of Unity engine games coming out lately...
I'm seriously tired of zombies.
Im not really into it that much for the 'zombies' themselves, more for the survival experience that they force you into. So, in a way I am...
