I tried hipfiring my 12 gauge last weekend. It took a lot of getting used to. The first shot almost knocked the gun out of my hands.
Hipfiring looks absolutely badass, but it's really ineffective in most environments.

Personally I think a gun range is the absolute last place you'd ever wanna be with someone that unstable and violent. I wouldn't put it past him to start shooting people.
