he's pretty right the US education system is pretty atrocious teachers have their job because it's easy money or because they are also coaching sports and often don't understand the content they teach in the first place it's why getting a secondary education or external education is so necessary to actually learn viable content
Guy's right. Very glad that the schools I went to educated us properly.
At least some kids want an education.
A true hero
though i agree, i imagine that kid won't do well at uni [editline]8th May 2013[/editline] if he goes
jay did a pretty good job setting that teacher right
I really liked the way that kid handled the situation. He was relatively calm yet voiced a really serious issue.
This guy is my hero.

He had a point about inspiring kids to lear. "Touching their hearts". If a kid can learn the value of education, then they can work past any difficulties they have from then on out.
Sadly most teachers are just there to collect a paycheck.
I wanna shake this kid's hand.
Public education is generally pretty terrible wherever you are. I'm glad this guy has the balls to say what most people either don't realize/don't care or don't have the balls to tell their teacher. I myself have experienced this first hand, this past year has been an absolute joke as far as the education is concerned. Last year of high school in Sweden in an electrical engineering/IT education and the curriculum consists of learning windows server 2008, in a world where over 90% of the world servers run linux. On top of the curriculum being fundamentally flawed, the teacher doesn't give a shit and the last three tests have basically consisted of the same crap and barely related to the books. All we do is sit and play games in class and he doesn't even try to do anything about it, he just walks in and mutters something about working and then starts browsing conspiracy theory sites or goes off to drink coffee in the teachers lounge. /vent
For one thing, there needs to be a stronger competition for teaching positions in high schools. More people applying, the better the chances of a valuable teacher. Another is the teacher evaluations. In my county they're almost useless. An administrator sits in the back of the class for one day with the teacher knowing ahead of time. Allows the teacher to get scott free while the next day back to the shit.
That kid is the man.
though i agree, i imagine that kid won't do well at uni [editline]8th May 2013[/editline] if he goes
Why? At least at my university, everything is democratic and participatory. The majority of people in the higher level classes are there out of want and not out of necessity. And much of it is lecture and discussion, very little paper pushing. Honestly, I love university because it's everything this kid is preaching.
Reminds me a bit of when I stood up to my physics teacher a while back. All she did was do repeats of the year before, and the year before that so when I asked her "Why do we even bother coming here, you're not telling us anything new, you're not making the subject any interesting at all, you're not making it worth anyones time, and you wonder why most of us are failing?". What I got as a response was "It's not my fault you're not studying properly". I just giggled and left.
If we were to start listing all of the issues with the current accepted style of the "education" system, then we would probably sit here until 2014, that is if we were BRIEF about it.
He speaks for us all.
I loved how calm he was about it. He's even more mature than the teacher. I was really surprised that he didn't get an applause at the end.
Does anyone else get bothered up until the point where you wish you could transcend physical existence just to jump into that classroom and slap that stubborn bitch of a teacher?
I was really lucky and past elementary school (where you don't learn much anyways) I never had 'packets', and my teachers were all excited and knowledgeable about their subjects.
I go to a public school but I haven't really had too many issues with teachers that didn't teach. If anything, the issue was whether or not the students thought the used method of teaching was working or not. I know a lot of teachers that love their job and just want to make a difference, despite getting shit thrown at them by students that don't care about education. So this video was really refreshing to see the opposite happening for once.
welp that was quick -regrets-
I loved how calm he was about it. He's even more mature than the teacher. I was really surprised that he didn't get an applause at the end.
He got a chorus of giggles, which is the same thing.
welp that was quick -info-
Can't you just look up the teacher on the school website? Not that difficult.
welp that was quick -dox-
I'm not okay with this. I don't care how bad of a teacher she is, posting her phone number and shit posted on the internet is just wrong
Can't you just look up the teacher on the school website? Not that difficult.
You can also get their pay grade from the state if I recall correctly. [editline]8th May 2013[/editline] Kind of unrelated, but still.
I would have applauded him had I been there
welp that was quick info
Oh for fucks sake, here we go.
