Unfortunately, he talks too boring and too long on these issues.
It sucks because its using modernized techniques for coders to do shit faster? Well good on you mate, go live in the past with 256 bit gifs.
You can't expect every website to be the same. Windows XP and 7 had some things that are not in 10 but that doesn't mean I want to go back now.
I came in hoping for a bunch of fun razzes at how the technology and technical culture evolved all janky because people kept trying too hard to respect old standards over time, but it's just funny because for as much of a turbonerd he is about it, he seems to be mad that it evolved
Is this guy an idiot, why is he crying about ram usage in an age where running out of ram isn't really isn't an issue anymore.

I feel the frustration when over 50% my ram (over 4GB) is being used by chrome alone while 4 adobe programs running at the same time combined are using less.
And ram is still an issue especially on a laptop with only two ram slots, or desktops that use DDR 4 ram that is usually over $100 for 16GB.
There aren't good enough reasons to have a browser hoard that much ram.
Although I certainly don't agree with him that we should go back to strictly HTML or still support decade old browsers.

Yeah but what if you have a cheapo tablet? Some of those handheld windows tablets only have 1GB, with 2GB being standard. Just because you have more computing power doesn't mean you shouldn't optimize your code at all.
When you upgrade your RAM for the sole purpose of running many more tasks at the same time, you don't want to be set back just because someone thought they can get away with shittier algorithms that uses more memory and cpu cycles instead of looking for another solution.
Javascript and the community around it don't even recognize the issue of rampant resource usage that eats away sanity all while "clients" only see that they need to buy new hardware to read exactly the same content that requires twice as more resource than it did few years ago.

There's also the problem with 'native' apps. It's easy to get away with porting if you bundle all your shit into a single chromium window, but as you can do a bunch of things in a bunch of different ways, you can end up in subtle but annoying bugs like this.
Yes, how constraining of high tech companies to pander to the 1% of people who use modern browsers. This guy acts like the only people who can use FireFox, Chrome, or even InternetExplorer11 (or Edge) are the small minority, when I'm sure it's the other way.
This guy has a nice voice, but he's like, half-whispering. Like he's trying not to wake up a baby on the other side of the room.

It's more common than you think, my desktop only has 6GB of RAM. Which isn't a whole lot more.

I love this, it feels like a kind of self-aware t¡nfoil man. He even gets to make people build their own on a conference. 43 minutes in
