can i have a vive please
I got a Vive, still haven't tried this. I need to get to it.
That peripheral-omitted locomotion is very cool. I don't get motion sickness in VR (or at all), but it's cool to see how developers innovate to solve the problem for people.

remember the time one dev added a VR nose and wrote some huge article claiming to have solved VR sickness, but it really just strained your eyes and gave you motion sickness anyways because it was in a position where your eyes couldn't both look directly at it, but the focus was still at the screen's focal length several meters away, and your brain couldn't fucking figure it out, AND the solution did nothing to give you a frame of reference to your realworld visual horizon, position/distance of the floor, or otherwise ground you in any reality other than one you already fucking have
I am probably the only person on earth having this, but for me VR just doesn't wow me anymore. I tried it the Oculus Rift and the Vive, and the first minutes were really nice (especially after only having head movement trackers like TrackIR for flight sims) but after that it just became normal.
Maybe it is just losing its magic for me.

when we first got our vive set up, this was one of the first things we played
i went to the golden gate bridge and moved the sky until it was a starry night and just lay down on the floor and was literally just stunned. like i couldn't move for like 30 seconds, it was fucking life changing
or maybe im just easily impressed

It's good for it to become normal. After it feels normal to everyone, it's up to developers to make what you watch or play an exciting experience. Just like Television. When the motion picture came out people were excited over something as simple as a train heading towards the camera.
One of the first things I'd do with this is find my own house and sort of mess around with perspective outside of it like it's a little model toy.
It's nice if you live in a big city or near well known locations. Other areas are mostly flat though.
