There was a really old 1800's church not far from where I live that was turned into a bar. Still had the original Tiffany stained glass windows and the old pews(?) were turned into tables and benches.
But some dumb fucks thought it would be HILARIOUS to set shit on fire when it was being renovated. I think it's being restored and might become a barber shop.

Are you serious? Do you realize that most people need churches? Churches are spiritual and sacred places, not something to be transformed into some pub.

You do know that there are more and more old churches being abandoned in favor of modern facilities, right? I know of at least 3 churches that closed down when a megachurch was built in the area.
What I said was we should try and save old churches from being torn down because they aren't used. Churches can have some of the most beautiful architecture there is, it would be a shame to bulldoze it down and plop an ugly-ass box building down when it's not needed.

i'd rather see a church becoming a hotel than it being demolished.
if you can convert a church into a hotel you're still preserving something historic but giving way to something useful. it becomes an attraction to tourists and people can still pray on it if they want, after all it's a church.
I don't even like religion and I think these threads are starting to get creepy.

If you convert it to some pub or hotel you disrespect a place of worship. Places of worship are respected by the majority. And we're in a democracy, and it's the majority that rules.

It's far more respectful to convert it into something like a hotel than to destroy it. The churches are abandoned anyways, so I don't see why you would make such a big deal about it being actually used for something good.

Reusing religious building is fine, people have been doing it for thousands of years.
Look at the Pantheon in Rome, first it was dedicated to the Roman religion, then Christianity, now it is a tourist attraction that brings millions of people from around the world.
As a Christian, I can safely say that the church building itself doesn't matter at all. My last church actually rented out a small warehouse to meet in before moving into an office complex.
I would buy a church and start rumors about it being haunted, so when kids snoop around in it I can dress like a zombie Jesus ghost and run around telling them to convert before I eat their brains.
Then each time I would move the church over night so when the kids tried to show their confused parents where the zombie jesus ghost 'converted' them, there would be nothing there...
