[hd]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xer4VCa5-tg[/hd] Hyped as FUCK for this Confirmed fake sadly, still a neat trailer! ( That there is going to be a series about it is however confirmed for a while)
When will it be available?
Aww yes! So fucking hyped! Loving the look of the whole thing, just hoping they don't go overboard on the CGI. Do we know any of the cast members yet?
When will it be available?
Sadly pretty much nothing is known about the series, the cast, director, writers.. Everything is still a mystery besides that its going to be a high-budget TV series based on A Series of Unfortunate Events (which already has me hyped)

I hope it ties in with the fact the writer is a part of the story as much as the actual characters are. It'd be sweet if we get Lemony Snicket describing how he wanted his books turned into a documentary so the world could hear the story or something. Oh shit, the Youtube channel is called 'Eleanora Poe', Mr Poe's sister
Rumor has it that Jim Carrey will reprise the role of Count Olaf, this because the creator of the series once mentioned in a interview that Jim Carrey is the only man he could envision as Count Olaf and since that they required permission from the author first to make the movie, it could at least mean something. But really, other then this trailer and title nothing else has been confirmed.
The video uploader is "Eleanora Poe", who is the sister of the banker Mr. Poe.
Fuccken Scweeeeet
I needed this in my life.
I wonder how the show will handle the tone of the narrator [sp]since the Author is the narrator and was involved with the protagonist's mother[/sp]
that shot on the "how to start a fire" book pretty much confirms this is going to be great
aaaaaa
the leech in the jar from the third book! that's cool as hell
It's a teaser, but it's already touching up all the elements from the books more than the film. Jim Carrey was a good Olaf, but with three books in one film it feels like they missed a lot of content.
Was it ever actually confirmed in the books that [sp]Count Olaf was the one who burned down the Baudelaire house[/sp]?

Olaf in the books is a terrible, evil and serious man. Jim Carrey made him look like a goofball. I understand they were trying to make it less dark, but it really took away a lot away from his character and the Baudelaires reactions to him. The art direction and music from the movie was fantastic though, and from the looks of this teaser, it looks like they nailed it again. Can't wait for a release date.
Was it ever actually confirmed in the books that [sp]Count Olaf was the one who burned down the Baudelaire house[/sp]?
[sp]Never. He never accepted or denied the claim of the fire. He always danced around the topic. By the time he might have confessed, he died in book 13. I think he did it to spite Kit, a former lover whose daughter was Beatrice, the mother of the Baudelaire Orphans.[/sp]
Was it ever actually confirmed in the books that [sp]Count Olaf was the one who burned down the Baudelaire house[/sp]?
It's never explicitly stated, (ending spoilers) [sp]the children tell Count Olaf they know he started the fire but he tells them there's more to the story than they know.[/sp]
I, eh, hope you like leeches I don't remember if I read that book (I know for sure I read the first) but I still remember physically shaking during that part of the movie
Pretty excited. While there were good parts to the movie (Including an awesome soundtrack), the series has much more potential. And this teaser has a ton of stuff for fans to look for. The record is the Gothic Archies (Author's Band that made original songs for each of the 13 books), the leech from Wide Window, and some sort of card or sign from Lucky Smells Lumber Mill; too many things to list.
I think this might not be real. I checked Netflix's twitter account and they haven't tweeted about this at all. It's possible that they sent it out as a press release, but you'd think more sites would've reported about it by now. The only source I could find is Buzzfeed article but it was written by a community member. I really want it to be real, and it'd be a pretty impressive fake, but it's not out of the question.
Except this video didn't come out of no where, this thing's been in the news for a while now.
Source? edit: More specifically, is there a reputable source that this video is official? Obviously I know the TV show is happening.
There are so many references packed into this, I sure hope that it's real.
Source?
You can google this stuff y'know http://deadline.com/2014/11/a-series-of-unfortunate-events-tv-show-lemony-snicket-netflix-1201274454/ http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/netflix-adapting-lemony-snickets-a-746666 http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2014/nov/05/netflix-adapt-lemony-snicket-books-tv http://moviepilot.com/posts/2015/06/18/a-new-series-of-unfortunate-events-to-hit-netflix-3317573?lt_source=external,manual

This was announced back in November, there's enough time for someone to put together a fake. EDIT: Also, the profile picture is a picture of writer Laura Jean Libbey. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laura_Jean_Libbey
I always sort of wanted an animated version using Brett Helquist's art style. ASoUE is has bits of fantasy here and there and has that odd Victorian style to it, and I worry about live action versions being too Tim Burton-ish.
Guys... I think it's fake. I was checking the comments on the /r/videos submission when I came across this comment: Obviously I shouldn't trust a random Reddit comment, right? I checked her post history and a year ago she claimed she worked in costume design, so it could be real. More importanly, I investigated what she said about the fake AHS teaser. Here's the actual video: Impressive, right? Here's a news story about it with an interview about how the fake was made: http://www.indiewire.com/article/heres-how-to-make-a-viral-video-american-horror-story-teaser-creator-tells-all-20140715 The guy who made it is a filmmaker named Kellen Moore. In the interview, he says "We just uploaded it onto a YouTube page we made and shared it on Tumblr and Twitter using the proper hashtags... the internet embraced the spot and it naturally just did its thing." I checked to see if he has Twitter account, and he does. Unfortunately it's protected, which means you have to be following him to see his tweets. However, I was able to check his mentions and noticed a friend/girlfriend sent this tweet to him. I checked her account, and noticed she retweeted this tweet about the teaser: https://twitter.com/rachelvent22/status/617652904548171777 Pretty innocuous right? However, check out the rest of her tweets: https://twitter.com/rachelvent22 Literally her entire timeline is made up of tweets sending the teaser to random accounts to get it popularity. It's all connected.
