Kinda charming tho, they weren't able to do it better then
i honestly thought this looked like a very decent Age of Empires 2 sequel/spinoff
Maybe they should have taken some inspiration from AoE2 and added some of the functionality from it, like unit formations.

they did. not unit formations, but they improved the pathfinding a lot apparently

it's much better but can still be frustrating at times. especially since the units stiill don't group up

Probably because a lot of people liked the first AoE game, and I think bringing every game of the franchise up to modern visuals is a great thing. People also wanted AoE brought to steam (lol) so they did that minus one thing
