So god damn hype for this expansion. I've played since Vanilla and even though the game has become somewhat stale, I still love the story expansions as well as everything in the game.
While I disagree with how Blizzard are handling the actual game these trailers always get me excited. God damn it.
what a lovely trailer

We've come full circle, the trailer/gameplay comparison joke from 2004 is back.

really interesting to see Sylvanas and Varian though, that got me excited. I just hope legion will bring back my respect for the game, every other expansion has been a blast for me but after WoD i just felt the game lost its soul.
You're not a proper badass unless you can swim up to the surface of water with heavy gear

I think he had some wolf god spirit thing give him limitless stamina in one of the comics, and this isn't the first time he's swam in the ocean with a full set of armor (I believe a similar thing happens toward the end of that Tides of War novel).
That being said, just because he's done it before doesn't make it any less ridiculous.
One thing I'll never stop loving is Blizzard's ability to churn out these damn gorgeous CGI trailers for every expansion
normally don't like blizzard/fantasy stuff but that was fun to watch. the blizzard cinematic team is incredible
weird to see a world of warcraft cinematic without any orcs
I might just renew my subscription to play through the zone questing, and then maybe do the LFR and not play ever again until the next expansion. Rinse and Repeat. :v:

Horde's pretty much dead. The only decent character, yet untouched by Metzen's lorewrecking claws, is Sylvanas. Garrosh + Sylvanas were the best things about Cataclysm, two great characters with amazing potential, and it all gets ruined in the blink of an eye because of that fucker Betzen.
If you really think about it, the Horde's seriously fucked; you had two entire expansions 110% dedicated to demonizing the 2nd most played race in the entire faction, and then the players who were into orc lore left because everything about orcs is now bad (save for Thrall obv)/transferred to Ally to play as a race that isn't hated by pretty much everyone.
Players who were into PvP left/went Alliance because if you play Horde you're at a statistical disadvantage at all times during PvP.
Players who like PvE quit because half of the Horde playerbase is gone/transferred to Alliance to group up with all the players that just abandoned the faction.
This is awful man.
Wait why are Horde at a disadvantage in PvP and who the fuck would leave a game because of lore
Seeing Sylvanas helping Varian gave me goosebumps

You kinda realize the whole thing keeping Warcraft afloat is the array of iconic shit it has going on, namely within its lore. The orcs and the humans are(were) two equally important parts of the game and the main driving force behind the whole "there are two factions" thing. WoW isn't a game you stick around with because of the gameplay, you stick around because of all the things that hold it together i.e the art, environment design, PvE content, PvP content and ultimately lore.
I couldn't give a shit about RPing or why C'thunhu was buried beneath the dirt or whatever, but when the game collectively takes a shit on a faction's iconic, primary race in every single possible way, you've got to admit something went wrong and call it quits.
Edit: The entire movie coming out is about those two sides and those two races. These latest expansions have eviscerated that second race and that second faction. That's undeniably bad. It's like the cat without the mouse
Maybe it's just me, but most of the people I've ever met / played with on WoW didn't seem like they were in it for the lore. They seemed like they were playing it for the same reason I was: for the new content and higher level caps and PvP / PvE.
Not once has lore ever been a fundamental part of the game for me. Mainly, the new skills, areas, quest types and dungeons has been what keeps me coming back. It's always the same yoyo effect as well, I'll play for a month or two after an expansion, and then leave.
I highly doubt the people leaving due to lore being turned to shit are a very large fraction of the playerbase.
MrHeadHopper, I wasn't saying lore as in "wow nerdes lmfao" I was saying "wow lore why leave over such a small issue". I never realised it was a huge thing to most players, but - again - I don't think the main demographic of WoW players are heavily invested in WoW lore. Seems like something only a niche group are actually super into.

before that update Horde racials were clearly superior to Ally's. If ensuring that the playing field is level is what caused Horde PvPers to drop, then they're fucking babies lmao

How though? The human racial broke all CC from the get go and that already makes it better than pretty much every other racial/class ability in the game. Some patch also made it so that Stoneform for dwarves prevented something, can't recall exactly what. None of the Horde racials did that except for WotF, and that was a specific counter to some CCs, not all of them.
Jesus this trailer made me cry. Wrynn has done quite a bit of growing up it seems. His bloodthirsty "KILL ALL HORDE" mentality was getting sickening. Right now I'd be very upset to see him die after that fucking AWESOME speech he gave.
Also Sylvanas AND Varian working together? Fuck that's a scary thought.

I think his bloodthirst against horde was gone at least since end of MoP?

Ahh. I haven't exactly played through WoD so I'm unaware of any developments that have arose since MoP.
I just know that multiverse is a thing now and that cheeky fuck gul dan is back.

He could have done it with the shoulder armor. Varian was just previewing Legion's new customization options.
The other reason why people are leaving is because the new content just isn't enough, and that it is way too focused on singleplayer type stuff instead of using their status as a mmo effectively.

Also 60 dollar expansions who thought this was a good idea

You don't level a playing field by making the other players suddenly have way more power, ideally you balance so that both sides have their pros and cons, but with none glaringly superior to the other.
Singleplayer focused? What?
The whole game is based around getting together in groups and doing dungeons and raiding shit. The zone questing is just a means to an end. Maybe LFR made it a bit more singleplayer oriented but regardless the core of the game is multiplayer. Garrisons kind of made things dull and boring but there is still multiplayer activities.
Also trying to advance lore in a game like WoW is suicide for Blizzard, they used up all the Warcraft RTS plotlines and trying to make a expansion on Alliance vs Horde would never work because of the two faction systems and everybody wants to be on the winning side.
If they could just make Warcraft 4 and say everything in WoW was a separate continuity/timeline that would be great because they'll never be able to make another decent story again in WoW because of trying to please both sides so they don't throw a shit fit.
I was hoping that this was the trailer for the movie, but this is pretty cool regardless.

They should have stuck with this style for the movie. Yes, it'd be more expensive and take more time, but this is the WoW look I've grown to love. I'm not sure how I feel about the real life take on it, but I'll still watch it and probably love it all the same.
