Now this is something truly special.
nice flash demo.
Woooooow
That was just such a waste of effort. No wonder this guy was against steam refunds. The fact that this guy could act like this was a story is just insulting.
That's not a story. That's the opening to a story. That's a hook to a story. That's the creator going "I really like what I made but I don't want to make any more of it", if he did want to make more he would have waited to make more before releasing it.
The trailer really made it intriguing. Gotta hand it to him, he knows how to edit a trailer.
Just forget about this and play Gemini Rue, that's god-tier cyberpunk.
god that voice acting was crap should have just let the player read what person was saying instead,.?
Looks like the developer of the game is in the youtube comments defending the game.

it feels like a game made by a graphic design student with no experience in writing or game design
the story, setting, and main character are HEAVILY inspired by GitS. the art and animations are good, but everything else isn't. the walk and text speeds are slow to the point of it being unbearable, the VA should be removed completely, and you really don't need a complicated tutorial for a point-and-click game
i'd actually like to see a game where the guy only does the visual design
tbh if the dev was more upfront about the game being under an hour i don't see anything wrong with selling a short story for a buck or two

assuming the short story was good tho, (which this isnt)
Even completely ignoring that the game is like 20 minutes long, the story doesn't even make any sense at all. Things just sort of happen, there's no rhyme or reason except ~2DEEP4U~

People who make these games are generally elitists who look down on their audience and other people in general.

visually it does look really good though
could have been really fantastic if they, you know, made a game out of it

Just checked up on that Twitter account. Seems they did need the games industry after all, seen as they just launched a Kickstarter for a new art game.
I wish I knew 2D artists who were as good as that. And wanted to help with games with the time to spare.

lol With attitudes like that they are lucky they work anywhere at all. What do these people expect? "Oh, if I treat my customers like absolute shit they'll have to buy my game! That's the only way they know I'm serious about my ~craft~!"
Hmm, I wonder if this Steam review was written by a friend of the developer...

Holy fuck who actually speaks/writes like that?
Albeit a short experience this is in no way a hindrance.
It's like they thought "if I speak as pretentiously as possible my opinion is worth more".

art students, so high probability of being a friend :V
Technobabylon, Primordia and Gemini Rue are in the "More Like This" section, and are $9.99 USD (Primordia and Gemini Rue) and $14.99 USD. (Technobabylon).
Also, the soundtrack is longer and is "name your price" and has no minimum. So the soundtrack has more worth more than the game itself.
I can't find the game, but I found this
http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/648589
better keep it in the google search top rank.
wow that was alot of nothing, the pixel art is nice but beyond that, nothing. Shit even the cat lady wich had more corny and not great quality voice acting is more engaging than this.
Man, this game is pretty fucking laughable. The worst thing is that it actually looks like it has a lot of potential. If the VA were better (or just removed), more was made out of the game world so you could walk around, talk to people and get actually useful information and maybe even sidequests, the writing was made a little less stock and a little more clear what was happening, and most importantly, there was much more game to the fucking game, it would be a great game.
But really all that means is that this game has a good art style, sort of, a particular pixel art style that's been done a million times before but actually somehow works here, and that combined with dystopian cyberpunk could make for a great experience in the hands of someone who doesn't call an essay finished at the thesis statement.
As it stands, all this made me feel was a little amused, a little disappointed, and wanting to play some Shadowrun or something.

Phil Fish has taken on a new identity?

The game received near universal praise by the games media.
What went wrong?

Funny that they list the time to complete the game as 25 minutes, which is incredibly short, and are still overselling the length of this game.

A mix of developers being shitty people and games not being as good as the press making them out to be.

What a fucking joke. "a testament to the idea that video games are an artform" lmao. Many games have a better story, better writing, are longer than 20 minutes and have actual gameplay on top of that.
I hate this idea that games have to be minimalistic and ~deep~ to be art. This is like me watching a 5 minute inspirational video on Youtube and being like "this is why filmmaking is art".
Even the 20 minutes (which it didn't even reach) is a bit of a stretch. It's only that length because of the hideously slow walking animation.
Also while the VA is bad, the lines are just downright terrible. No one could really slavage those.
Dev made a similar game before called Stranded. Pretty much the same deal, great looking pixel art design, non-existent gameplay padded by slow walking animations meh writing and potentially good setting but dull plot all finished less than 30 minutes. The guy really should team up with someone with better writing and game design skills.
