Mmmfmdmmdmdm When exactly will we be seeing these?
I love OLEDs, shame that when they come out they will be extremely overpriced because they are NEW. Even though they are cheaper to manufacture than LED, LCDs or Plasmas.
I want one for my pc.
Just as I got an LED monitor for $169.99...
Just as I got an LED monitor for $169.99...
Good for you?
I love OLEDs, shame that when they come out they will be extremely overpriced because they are NEW.
Good for you?
I don't think you understand. I paid alot of money to get a monitor, only to have newer technology be revealed a couple days later. (yes $169 is alot for me.)
the cost of OLEDs scale exponentially with screen size, these wont be just the "new" overpriced, these will be "holy shit $15k for a screen" until the technology evolves further
Actually it's $8k, said to be cut to $4k 2013.
I don't think you understand. I paid alot of money to get a monitor, only to have newer technology be revealed a couple days later. (yes $169 is alot for me.)
OLED has been around a while, the prices are just phenomenal right now
SO...FUCKING...THIN
Why are companies always so concerned about the thickness of their products? I honestly don't care if my monitor is over an inch or two.
Even though I do not care about thickness that much that is still immensely thin.
Why are companies always so concerned about the thickness of their products? I honestly don't care if my monitor is over an inch or two.
Makes it nicer to wall mount and it doesnt take more than 1 person to move it around with it only being 16 pounds..
Why are companies always so concerned about the thickness of their products? I honestly don't care if my monitor is over an inch or two.
It's not about thickness any more with OLED screens. They are what they are and the picture quality will be beyond what you've ever seen before.
I know what I'm getting this year. Well, not if they're $8,000
Can't wait for the OLED technology to become cheaper to manufacture and generally become more mainstream. Imagine all the shit you can do with the technology, it's crazy.
Why are companies always so concerned about the thickness of their products? I honestly don't care if my monitor is over an inch or two.
Tablets/phones
Why are companies always so concerned about the thickness of their products? I honestly don't care if my monitor is over an inch or two.
I imagine it's just because the hardware/chips/whatever that goes inside is getting smaller, so there's no point in making the back bigger, as it would just be empty space. Plus, as others have said, it's much more fitting when mounted on a wall, and easier to move.
But weren't OLED TVs available sometime before CES? Or am I just being delusional?
But weren't OLED TVs available sometime before CES? Or am I just being delusional?
It's still a developing technology, so there's always new stuff to see
We are in the future.
$8000
All 7 people that buy it will be impressed.
At one point they will definetly stop making them thinner as the TVs will no longer be able to support their own weight.
Thin as paper, and just as fragile?
When the Wii first came out and you accidentally let go without the wrist strap, either the Wii Remote would break on a CRT's glass or the screen on a plasma screen television is damaged beyond repair. Do that with these televisions and you'll snap the thing in half! Too thin, do not want.

(yes $169 is alot for me.)
No I don't think you understand. You got a MONITOR (assuming you mean a computer monitor) for a computer This is a large 3D TV. You wouldn't have paid the ridiculous price for it anyways. It's a little bit like saying "I just bought this new mouse and as soon as I do this new graphics card comes out"
I know it's just a tv, but it gives me that "holy crap we're in THE FUTURE" feeling. I want it.
I honestly don't understand the appeal of thin TV's and I will personally never indulge myself in one until they become standard place. I watch a TV from the front, not from the side.

It's efficient.
