I have a feeling he might be using an emulator. You need a good computer to run emulators well, even for older consoles (some don't need much like nes, but n64, stuff like that)

My old AMD single core something laptop with 256MB of RAM could emulate N64 and PS1 fine.

Well my computers decent (saints row 3, bad company 2, bf3...) but I tried to emulate banjo kazooie and it wasn't perfect.
Although a better word would be a decent or not shit computer to emulate. Knowing this guy, I wouldn't be surprised if he had an iffy computer.
