I feel like this game's detractors are way too scathing. Like, it's not that bad, keeping in mind that it's by a single guy who made family games with oft-religious themes until being told that his family-friendly character designs were [I]terrifying.[/I]
I'm pretty sure it wasn't made with the youtube horror game craze in mind, either. The first one, at least. Dude found success and took advantage of it, can't really blame him.

When a game is being made over a short period of time by a single person your expectations should be lowered accordingly.
To me it seems that a lot of people shitting over this game are simply ignoring the fact that it was made with close to no budget and over a small period of time.

fandoms [i]thrive[/i] on a lack of solid content. If there's room for you to come up with wild speculation and 'head-canon' stories, people will latch on because it's fun to do that

I think its more the fact that when this game first got big,everybody was hailing it as some horror masterpiece.
