I don't know how this became a fashion thing. In prison this means your available. What the fuck you doing advertising yourself?

isn't that just an urban myth

I'd say it got started in public from someone who was used to doing it in prison all of the time. When he got out and looked like he was some sort of badass with his pants hanging low, kids who wanted to feel like they were badasses themselves started doing it, and it caught on as a fashion thing for thugs and thug wannabe's. Little do they know that, originally, it meant they wanted a love shaft in their poop chute.
I've asked friends years ago and been told "cause niggas always wear hand-me-downs"
I thought it was a fashion started by builders and plumbers. They always have their arse hangin' out.
I always thought it was a homage to a friend in jail, because they aren't allowed belts in prison
At least thats how it started
Im calling it, in 10 years people will either have underwear with pockets or carry their pants around in a wagon.

I actually asked my school counselor why she thought some guys wore their pants like that. She told me that they wanted to communicate that they felt school was like a prison for the belt reason.
Personally I don't think people who wear their pants like that are intelligent enough for that to be the real reason.
I love how he takes a second to try and pull them up before he figures out it was an insult.
My pants sag sometimes...Sometimes my belt breaks and i have such a skinny waist its hard for me to find pants that fit :(
Why you would chase someone in that condition anyway.

I have a pair of boxers with pockets
I haven't got a clue why though I don't keep anything in 'em
my pants tend to fall down too when i forget to wear my belt, i'm like a 27/32 or something so i can never find pants long enough but small enough around the waist to fit :v:
i'm stuck rocking 29/32s with a belt

He's right.
The truth is because in prison prisoners dont wear belts because with belts they can hang themselves so they walk around al the time without a belt so the pants sag and they get used to it so it means yeh i come from prison im dangerous main

How the hell do you break a belt?
I've had a class with an actual "fashion historian" it was pretty interesting, she said that there aren't any actual answer to this, just a lot of speculation and several credible explanations which applied parallel to each other can form a decent picture. The myth of sagging to imply "availability" in prisons is completely fabricated, like that "secretly we are gay(swag)" shit and other dumb myths made for derogatory purposes. The two most prominent and plausible explanations are the "pay homage to friends/family in jail by not wearing belt" or the fact that a lot of kids/ teens and young adults in the ghetto were too poor to be outfitted with brand new clothing, and had to wear too large clothes handed down from elder siblings, this leading to it becoming a trend and later, fashion statement
:eng101:
In 2 years this will be next.....
