Was Doctor Strange actually any good? I didn't really hear anything about it after it came out.
Was Doctor Strange actually any good? I didn't really hear anything about it after it came out.
I'm not really into movies, but I saw it a few days ago and thought it was alright. I'd personally break it down like this: + good visuals. If you're into Inception-type reality warping CGI, this movie's got quite a lot of it. + most of the jokes/quips/one-liners worked, tho during action scenes they sometimes it confused me about what the intended tone was + how they defeat the final boss was pretty cool. Probably the one thing I'll remember from this movie. o the protagonist was okay. He's a Tony Stark type of lovable cocky douchebag, but without as much charm and charisma. o it's a superhero origin story, so if you're familiar with those by now, it'll go through a lot of the same motions. - I didn't really care about the characters. Especially the "token characters" like the obligatory love interest, the old sage mentor that talks in riddles, the nebulous villain's right hand man that the hero can confront directly, etc. May overlap with "superhero origin story" checkbox ticking. - the big doomsday threat was pretty phoned-in. It didn't personally connect to the protagonist in any way and the struggle that was personal to the protagonist got swept under the rug quite explicitly.
