oh my god, this makes my blood boil.
His voice is annoying
How big of a difference is W8 vs w7 anyways performance wise?
-snip- I'm dumb
God, I want to keep watching, but the kid is just annoying me so much.
How big of a difference is W8 vs w7 anyways performance wise?
Not much - you can pretty much never use Metro, just when you get to the start screen click on Desktop and away you go. I have it on a grey colour scheme and quite like the look of it - easy on the eyes. But it feels very strange how the desktop (pretty much Windows 7 with flat colours) looks and feels so different from the chunky, tablet-y start screen and charms bar (thing on the right that pops up). And Metro is just shit on anything without a touch screen - why would I want to run all my programs full-screen with no taskbar so I can't see what else is open? It probably didn't deserve all the shit-flinging it got, but I don't see any compelling reason to switch from 7. e: I'm so sorry. I misread and thought you meant besides performance wise.

I want simple, compact menu's that are based mostly on ease of eye and function as opposed to "looking super fancy shmancy". Example. but yeah, PURELY based on performance, is it really an improvement worth 80-100$?
It's a 1-2% improvement in most places, not worth $80.
lol and I remember that video that got me so hyped when they booted up in like half a second
It's a 1-2% improvement in most places, not worth $80.
so basically I could spend an extra $80 on extra ram I don't need and get a much better improvement.
lol and I remember that video that got me so hyped when they booted up in like half a second
Booting is still stupidly fast compared to Win 7, even when running on an i3 and I've bloated my install it's fairly snappy still. [editline]29th September 2013[/editline]
so basically I could spend an extra $80 on extra ram and get a much better improvement.
There are various other improvements to Win 8 that aren't just performance. Usability, improvements to Explorer and the file transfer system, DX 11.1 if that means anything to anyone but DICE yet :v:, I seem to have better memory management too. You aren't just paying for a marginal performance boost in everyday use, doing that for anything is dumb.
I just built a gaming computer from scratch with Windows 8 on an SSD. I'm not gonna lie, the first day with Windows 8 was frustrating as hell but after many Google searches and once I worked everything out I can't really complain about much. You just need to be ready to put in the time and effort to customize it to your liking. My advice is if you already have Windows 7, watch plenty of videos of people showing you how to do things on Windows 8 (Newegg has some good videos) and if you decide you want Windows 8, try to get it when it's marked down. Sales on Windows 8 are rare, but they happen. If you're building a computer from scratch, I strongly recommend getting Windows 8 and putting it on a SSD to take advantage of its faster boot time. (If money is no object the Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD is one of the fastest out right now).
this guy
oh my god the cringe
lol and I remember that video that got me so hyped when they booted up in like half a second
you do boot in half a second though like i shit you not, i can say "gimme 5 seconds to reboot" on mumble, press my reset button and maybe take a sip of water before it's ready to logon
also I don't understand the point hes making in the first video, of course the mother won't know how to do certain things, just like she didn't know how to do anything when she first sat on a computer long ago. It's just a simple matter of showing people the new ways around. I don't think that's a big deal.

While older people do seem a tad more resilient to learning new tech, W8 literally takes a good five minutes to fully get used to if you play around with it. Shit, I mean it tells you everything you need to know when you do the first setup. [editline]29th September 2013[/editline] He's showing his mom the worst possible ways of doing everything good god.
How big of a difference is W8 vs w7 anyways performance wise?
windows 8 (outside of metro, which is only slow because of those silly animations) is slightly faster in nearly every regard. I have yet to use metro either and I've had it installed since release day so it's not like metro is a big deal
Lol she scrolls down with two hands.
this guy
the cringe never stops
This is the type of customers I had everyday working at Geek Squad. I love teaching people things about computers, but there were customers like this where they complained about EVERYTHING. I would try to explain to them how to do it, and they would interupt me saying "I don't know how to do that!" or "Why is this so difficult!". If they forgot their passwords or email they would blame Microsoft.
Is your gif how you taught your customers?
Yes
His voice really grates on me. He sounds like someone from Angry Boys.
I thought you were exaggerating but then I watched the video. holy fuck you aren't kidding [editline]29th September 2013[/editline]
this guy
this is painful to watch
Is it just me or are manuals becoming obsolete now since evidently (not just this video), no one has the patience for them anymore.
I can't believe that his mother actually helped him to make that street interview video.
he actually made a hour long video about his life story. wow jesus christ
