Seems pretty legit and interesting.
Considering this is Valve News Network I'd take this with a block of salt.
In summary: pretty much nothing A very pointless video
Considering this is Valve News Network I'd take this with a block of salt.
He has a marker when he speculates now and he's really stepped up his game [editline]22nd May 2016[/editline]
In summary: pretty much nothing A very pointless video
Did you even watch it? How could you that fast..
this half life threeeeeee shit is getting to schizophrenic-level finding non existant patterns in things
The source is steam db [editline]22nd May 2016[/editline]
this half life threeeeeee shit is getting to schizophrenic-level finding non existant patterns in things
Please watch it first.
Did you even watch it? How could you that fast..
I did watch, I am subbed to VNN, I watched it when it was posted, not when the thread was.
I did watch, I am subbed to VNN, I watched it when it was posted, not when the thread was.
Alright fair enough, I just thought it was news that there is a source 2 Rpg at all
Alright fair enough, I just thought it was news that there is a source 2 Rpg at all
Except there are no news. It's just a speculation. Until Valve confirms, it could mean a lot of things. We've been seeing filenames with hl3 in it for a long time but nothing of actual hl3. Don't take some rumors and VNN as news.

Plus someone at valve was playing it, more than filenames.
and just like every other valve rpg it'll probably be canned
The steam db game Id isn't called hl3, it's just source 2 Rpg. Plus someone at valve was playing it, more than filenames.
Ok and? We know that "source 2 rpg" exists, yes. But that's all. It tells us nothing. I know db id isn't hl3, did you watch your own video? He mentions hl3.txt and how it had quest citizen in it. Again speculating it might be hl3 but also that it might be not. We know fuck all and this video doesn't shed any light on it.
The steam db game Id isn't called hl3, it's just source 2 Rpg. Valve took Dota, so Blizzard took TF2, so now Valve's taking World of Warcraft and making the next good MMO, right? [sp]this is a joke[/sp]
I personally don't believe valve can release a game anymore.
pretty sure this isn't news either, the quest-referencing leak has been around for a while (and discussed here a few times) [editline]22nd May 2016[/editline] valve reminder network
"hl3 might be an rpg because hl3.fgd references quests" ignoring the fact that there is a separate fgd for hl3 and rpg. if you're gonna speculate, don't speculate toxic stuff like this VNN.
It's fine VNN browses FP so he'll see all this flaming. The video is reaching kinda far though. Not enough information, just a steamdb entry and 2 valve devs playing it.
How do people take VNN seriously anyways you can't report on valve because they literally never say anything, and when they do everyone reports on it... so, what's the point of a news network about valve outside of pure speculation?
I personally don't believe valve can release a game anymore.
Why develop Source 2 then?
Why develop Source 2 then?
To give to devs so they make games and they have to release them on steam so valve can get 30%. Technically they've already released content on source 2 (Robot repair + Dota2)

I don't think every video from him is pure speculation.

He's undermining himself, essentually, by wasting time on pointless videos IMHO. he seems to have https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZxOEoO7GKlAqRJJl3bGxag too but why not just a general gaming news network?
There are so many errors in the video. Prospero was not going to be a MMORPG. I talked to both Greg Coomer and Marc Laidlaw. Greg was the head of the project, and Marc was the writer. Valve did not work on Turtle Rock's fairy role-playing game. It was the Turtle Rock's first attempt at building their own game. Valve didn't respond to it very positively, so they abandoned it entirely and created Left 4 Dead instead. Stars of Blood had role-playing elements, but it wasn't a role-playing game. The images shown in the video are nothing to do with the game. It is Laura Dubuk's personal artwork (see her blog). rpg.txt appears to be a base for building experiments. I don't think it's a game. It is not related to hl3.txt, since it has its own definitions for map properties.

It's almost as if he's doing what he wants.
Maybe he doesn't want to make a general gaming news network and just wants to report news about anything interesting going on at Valve? It's almost as if he's doing what he wants.
It's like making a news network specifically on a brand of clothing. You're going to run out of things to say because there will be nothing to report on.

Technically they've already released content on source 2 (Robot repair + Dota2)
Valve isn't currently licensing Source 2 to anyone. Also, why would they keep on hundreds of people whose sole job is to develop video games if not to develop video games? Surely if they were as greedy as everyone shits about, they'd have long ago fired everyone nonessential to keeping Steam running and just had even more piles of cash. And they'd have just kept all the money for themselves instead of investing in to a larger office with more employee space.
The source is steam db
steamdb isnt a reputable source. not until halo 3 pc comes out anyway
