There are a lot of bitchy mothers flying around on the internet these days.
Touching, but older than the internet.
My mom is an atheist.
We still give eachother and other people Christmas presents just because it's a nice thing to do once a year.
[editline]20th July 2012[/editline]
And tradition.
I sure am glad my parents are more tolerant about me being an atheist despite how religious they are.

Christmas is a universal festivity. The Christians that claim Christmas as a Christian-only thing are arrogant.
so, that's what christmas is about. jesus and presents. not paganism.
im disappointed now
I only wish it went on. It was just starting to get good.
Fuck her accent reminds of of Sarah Palin.

Yeah, I only celebrate on Thorsday.
hey that's how my mom reacted.
My parents are very chill about it. They're so secular they are almost bordering on agnosticism. They are also happy that "I am capable of critical thinking", even though they're Christians themselves.
My whole family is atheist, father mother me and both brothers.
My family doesn't really care for religion. It's just not something we actively say yes or no to, so I guess by default we're athiest. I find most families here in the UK are athiest or just don't care. I went to a Christian school, but I only knew 1 or 2 religious people who went there. How common is it in the US? I always get the feeling with these videos that a vast majority of Americans are religious
I'm glad my parents pretty much agreed that religion would be left alone and not forced either way. Tolerance can be hard to come by regarding religion when the majority of your family is religious. It's saddening and annoying when relatives act a bit more distant or a bit strange after revealing you're atheist to them.
Both of my parents are Buddhist and they both don't care what I believe or don't believe in, as long as I'm still a good person and stuff. I thought this video was a joke at first.
Also, who was the person that recorded this? One of his siblings?
Well at least he's not gay.

They probably would have killed him right there if he said that.
Also, why do people use liveleak to host videos?
[editline]21st July 2012[/editline]
I mean yeah if its something worthy of liveleaking like some of that helicopter footage posted earlier but a dude telling his mother he is an athiest?
How the fuck is this something to 'come out' with? This is the fucking problem. If you believe something, or have a lack of belief in something, it's your own fucking business holy shit.
My god (or no god), this is ridiculous.
It would be exactly the same if it was "Kid tells Atheist parents that he's a Christian". It's fucking stupid all around.
Fuck, if you have a belief or a lack of belief, it's your own fucking shitting personal business. Stop fucking waving your dick around saying THIS IS WHAT I THINK, EVERYONE LOOK AT ME.
Religious people, and Atheists, and Agnostics, and what have you, you're ALL guilty of this.
Fucking stop.
[editline]21st July 2012[/editline]
I apologize for being an asspie, I just cannot stand this shit on every side of the spectrum.
I'm guessing he's a devil worshiper now? Seriously, if you don't believe in God, it shouldn't be a problem and it doesn't mean you're evil.
As long as you're good and you treat people well, that's all that should matter.
My whole family is Atheist, but we celebrate Christmas. In today's world, it's more about the season and festivities than it is about religion.

Mmm maybe but life becomes more comfortable when its shared with others. We owe a lot to self expression and what it brings us on an individual level and society level. If you don't tell people how you feel, etc..
half of my class doesn't even go to church and they get a shit ton of christmas presents
I love how the mother had to pause and think about what to say next after the kid said it was okay that he wouldn't be receiving anything for Christmas. "Fuck, that plan didn't work."
I also love how his father seems like he couldn't give two shits about the entire incident too.
Videos like this make me feel lucky that both my parents are atheist.
My dad is an atheist in denial. He hates the "atheist agenda", the "war on religion", and denies atheism. However, when pressed, he says that he doesn't believe in any gods and doesn't agree with the Catholic Religion at all(he was raised Catholic).
My mom is a "feel good" christian. She says she believes in god and whatnot, but doesn't go to church and religion doesn't play a large part in our lives.
However, sometimes she still says she failed her children since me, my brother, and my sister are all staunch atheists and secularists. That sort of makes me feel bad. I don't see how any parent can feel they failed their children for teaching them to think for themselves and choose their own path through life.
I'm glad for myself and that kid in the video, because we both were able to think for ourselves and join a religion that isn't widely accepted. If you want an example, just take a look at his mom.
My mom and myself are hardcore athiests, but my half sister believes in all that shit. Mom still took her to church on Sundays
Some people just have shit parents
