Video explains it all
Was expecting

That's cool.
It almost looks like the rocket was too shy to go to space and came back.

Beautiful.
When will Falcon 9 start launching with this system?
[editline]14th August 2013[/editline]
Oh apparently they're doing the first tests in September, over water. When Falcon 9 launches. They expect the first few times to not succeed and they want to learn from their mistakes.
Ground landing expected as early as mid-2014!
this is p much the best I can do in ksp
I bloody love SpaceX
God damn, that landing was quick! It must be incredibly difficult to handle something that's not at all shaped for maneuverability, I can imagine the bottom is heavier, making simple mistakes very dangerous ones.
All those years of playing moon lander have finally payed off.

Hit the skybox.
what are the grasshoppers practical applications though
what are the grasshoppers practical applications though
building this tech into liquid fueled boosters allows you to get them back completely intact
rockets aren't cheap
what are the grasshoppers practical applications though
Reusing rockets quick, by not landing them by the means of a parachute and possible damage by water (aka takes long time to verify safe for reuse). Grasshopper could theoretically land on the pad again
