He was talking about texture resolution at one point and I wonder the same thing. Black Mesa has AMAZING texture quality, and while at first it throws you off, you quickly grow to love it and it looks brilliant.

I really want a demo since I am not sure I could run this game.

Aside from all the technical disappointments, the game just looks dull. I really wanted to like it but it just doesn't look like its doing anything different or even doing the old stuff all that well.

You do realise what game you are talking about right?
Megatextures act weird on my system. If I rotate camera too fast I experience texture pop every time. It's like they unload hi-res version every time you're not looking and then load it back when you rotate.
He mentioned a company called "StarBreeze", I'd never heard of it before, and apparently it's Swedish, so I decided to look it up via Google Images.
Doing that was a big mistake.
