There's a lot of videos out on YouTube that switch scales for songs that were originally in the major key and throw them into the minor key to see what it would sound like. I've been following the user Oleg Berg for about two or three years, and he uses Melodyne to pitch-correct music into the minor scale. Chase Holdfelder actually replays music in a pop-sounding minor recomposition, which is pretty great! (First link is my favorite.) I jumped on the bandwagon and re-wrote Kakriko Villiage in the minor scale and specifically for the piano. That small shift in key causes the entire song to be depressing, as usual for major to minor videos, so I tried to make the playing reflect that. Here's the original for comparison: If you guys want to hear something redone in minor key, post it and I might take a stab at redoing it.
god it really feels more depressing than the original one
Minor has always been way cooler than major, in my opinion. Major has it's place, but minor is so expressive simply in how we respond to specific dissonance. We look for resolution when minor harmonies play, which forces us to wait for the right note. It plays with your brain. Converting to major sucks: ^ subscribe to that guy, btw. He's awesome.
do the seinfeld theme
I'd love to hear this in minor.
I'd love to hear this in minor.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/965202/Facepunch/Seemann.mp3 Here's the first little part of the original song with the scales inversed. It's progammed into my music program without dynamics or anything and it's not very long, but you get the general idea of what it would sound like. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/965202/Facepunch/Onett.mp3 I'm sure I got a ton of notes wrong near the end (and overall, it wasn't serious) but I thought this was hilarious. It sounds like Ness is pissed.
My friend would always play the minor version of Wild Thang on guitar. It sounds silly but its way darker than any of the minor versions I've heard since.

I used NES synths and Commodore 64 drums because why not?
I don't know why, but it sounds better in minor. Maybe take a stab at TF2's Rocket Jump Waltz in minor? Curious as to how that would sound.

That'll be my next serious recomposition project, thank you very much.

Still really cool sounding, I'm excited to hear the Rocket Jump Waltz though.
T___T My heart
I'm not sure if it's the best song for this conversion stuff... but it's my all time favorite: What key is it in? I can't tell. Not really 'musically' inclined.
People who transpose using software instead of good old pen and paper ¬.¬
People who transpose using software instead of good old pen and paper ¬.¬
People who complain about computer software use in music in the year 2015 need to look in the mirror and figure out why everyone's laughing. I'm sorry, did I make the mistake of not using a fountain pen and sheet music? Hey, is recording on my computer cheating as well? Should I record to tape and output on vinyl? Is that genuine enough for you? I'm not actually playing this music live - it's programmed into my Windows 95 modular tracker. Is that too fake for you? Or is that not the point? Thanks for commenting about my actual work itself. While you're hounding musicians for not being real musicians, Photoshop users for not really painting, and people who use word processors for not really writing, no one gives a shit.
The only major-to-minor conversion you need More pop songs like this would be great, the happier and more upbeat the better

It's so dark for being about having a good time. "THERE'S NO. NEED. TO. BE. UN. HAPPY." *desparate saxaphone call for help blares*
Fun fact about portal 2. This major to minor switching technique is used for the Wheatley transformation sequence. Here is the soundrack, start at 1:10. and listen how it sounds happy and then all of a sudden gets very serious.
I'm going to ask a moderator to change this thread title to "Major to Minor" or something along those lines, because since I'm taking a break from serious music production, I'll spend more time doing these major to minor experiments. I generally never watch TV, let alone series, but I've recently found the will in me to carry all the way to episode 12 of Season 2 of Twin Peaks. The music is as weird as the show. Here's the original theme in F Major. Here it is in F Minor (with some artistic liberties). If that's not your style, here's TF2, but in reverse! I took it from minor to major. Post some suggestions! These are fun. [editline]14th January 2016[/editline]
do the seinfeld theme
I secretly tried this when this thread started. It doesn't work at all. It just sounds like gibberish.
That Rocket Jump Waltz one is really cool.
That Rocket Jump Waltz one is really cool.
Thanks! That was my first test of Spitfire's orchestral samples. I secretly want to write soundtracks.

On subject this version of Kakariko would do well for its future self.
Really digged the chopin flare you added to your playing.
