you can tell she's really trying her best to figure out the math when she starts aggressively shaking her fist
It's too late, her generation has already been affected!! We're doomed.
It's Jon Stewart's initial reaction to it that makes it so golden.
fox news being caught not fact checking or in factual errors... nothing new still john's reaction is what its worth
She never says anything about the classroom sizes doubling, though..
She never says anything about the classroom sizes doubling, though..
half the schools taking in the other half of schools means each school is handling double the load
half the schools taking in the other half of schools means each school is handling double the load
So you're telling me every single school has exactly the same amount of students in every class, she even says "Will go from 32 students, for one teacher, to 62"
you're mutating the context to create an argument please stop
you're mutating the context to create an argument please stop
She literally said "for one teacher", she is clearly talking about one instance of this.
What is he always writing on that blue sheet of paper? I know he does it for comedic effect here but he does it a lot especially when coming back from commercial.
What is he always writing on that blue sheet of paper? I know he does it for comedic effect here but he does it a lot especially when coming back from commercial.
Probably just scribbles. Its just a prop.
So you're telling me every single school has exactly the same amount of students in every class, she even says "Will go from 32 students, for one teacher, to 62"
I'm telling you she did simple math with a simple premise and fucked it up. There was no "well there's 2,000 students here and 1350 there and under 800 in this one, therefore-", there was "for every two schools there will be one left over, this is an average class size, so by virtue of the simple 2:1 representation, this number doubles."
I'm bad at math but I'm not THAT bad
It's Jon Stewart's initial reaction to it that makes it so golden.
Jon's a charm with those
I'm telling you she did simple math with a simple premise and fucked it up.
What is he always writing on that blue sheet of paper? I know he does it for comedic effect here but he does it a lot especially when coming back from commercial.
He's probably jotting down joke ideas that he's just thinking of on the fly, or jotting down how he tweaked a joke ... just so he can have references with continuity. Apparently he's very good at keeping track of his improvised changes to the shows loose script.
What is he always writing on that blue sheet of paper? They often don't write anything important on it, it's just to look important/not awkward when they have extra time between the end of a segment and a break. Most news anchors doodle or just fake write.
She didn't do any math
What would you call multiplying a number by two? Spanish?
She didn't do any math so how could she fuck up the math?
Let's review her words exactly:
detroit may have to close down half of their public schools. Can you imagine? Half of their public schools. Classroom size- that means, will go from 32 students... [looks at paper] to 62
I know word problems are hard but you should at least try to finish the test.
Let's review her words exactly: I know word problems are hard but you should at least try to finish the test.
I kind of get what he's saying. They wouldn't necessarily be evenly distributed if schools were closed down. But then you remember it's FOX News, and they don't think that deeply into stuff.
What is he always writing on that blue sheet of paper? I know he does it for comedic effect here but he does it a lot especially when coming back from commercial.
He writes his own name and sells the paper as autograph on ebay
She literally said "for one teacher", she is clearly talking about one instance of this.
62 ~ 32*2. When you're off by one or two, it's generally okay to say "double" If she's citing real numbers and not hypothetical ones, anyways.
62 ~ 32*2. When you're off by one or two, it's generally okay to say "double" If she's citing real numbers and not hypothetical ones, anyways.
The whole thing is hypothetical. I seriously doubt they closed exactly 50% of the schools. It was likely around that, so she was just going for the 'every class size is going to double,' but fucked up her math.
9+11=9/11 only american math that matters
