Although weed should be legal and all that.
Does it matter that he's autistic?

It's more of the fact because he has aspergers he didn't really have a social life in school, Because it made it a challenge for him to socialize and fit in. Then up comes someone out of the blue wanting to be his friend, but soon the only friend he has wants him to buy him weed or else he won't be his friend anymore. The undercover cop most likely knew of his problems and manipulated him because of it.
Also isn't that entrapment?
yes
I thought they weren't allowed to question people without a lawyer present, or do you need to ask for one?

Entrapment is tricky to define in US law. It rarely ever actually works as a defense unless the cops straight up tricked or forced someone into doing something illegal. Since there was consent here and the kid probably had knowledge that he was doing something illegal, then this might not qualify as entrapment depending on the place and judge.

You have to ask for one. You can be questioned and interrogated and tried without one. You have to physically express your will to have an attorney before the court date, and will be automatically appointed one unless you wave your right when being sentenced. They can question you all they want until you say either:
"I would like to see my attorney" or similar, which implies you have an attorney (the state usually won't appoint you one until the trial) or
"I plead my fifth amendment right", which is your legal refusal to incriminate yourself during questioning in the US- your "right to remain silent".
For minors, the laws are generally that you can't be questioned without either consent of the minor (you must actively refuse the questioning) or without a legal guardian or capable proxy who is 18 or over present (you must ask for this).
Wouldn't the kid end up with some trust issues later on?
rah rah fuck the police

That's fucking bullshit. Entrapment legally means when the police give someone the means or the motivations to do something illegal that they otherwise wouldn't have done. This is definitely a case of that.

I'm all for keeping drugs illegal, but the way they seem to be going about it with this 'war on drugs' seems incredibly wrong.

back in my day kids went outside, went to school up 2 hills both ways and bought weed
KIDS AREN'T ALLOWED BE KIDS ANYMORE!
I am so glad this sorta stuff is illegal here.
Also i thought the point of the police was to uphold the law, not make others break it.

kids give kids weed all the time
when i was in high school, a friend was shocked that i never smoked and let me smoke his weed so i could become "de-virginized"
it is weird to push someone else to buy weed for you, though. in my school, everyone knew who the dealers were, even the nerdy kids.

also, This American Life did a story a lot like this years ago, but i think it took place in new york, and it was a kid who fell in love with an undercover cop, and she said she wouldn't go with him to prom unless he brought her some weed.
These practices are disgusting and only serve to boost the arrest records of local police whilst ruining the lives of the children affected.
America really needs a police reform, but nobody gives enough of a shit to do it because it lines the pockets of the people in charge.
Also isn't that entrapment?
short answer no, its not entrapment.
take a look at this, it clears up most myths about entrapment.
http://thecriminallawyer.tumblr.com/post/19810672629/12-i-was-entrapped
for example, if I was an undercover cop, I could come to you, offer you $10k for delivering boxes of meth to a 'friend' of mine, and if you take those boxes and the money, you are guilty and not entrapped. They believe that if that drug dealer was a normal person, you still would have done the crime, the cop didn't make you commit the crime.
I really hat to say this, but, the only way to avoid these situations is to be a genuinely law abiding citizen. Or know who you are dealing with. And yes I am truly disgusted by these practices.

Asking someone to commit a crime is not entrapment. Entrapment should be called coercing, instead. Basically if the law is broken in order to get them to break a law, it's entrapment
