You'd have to be truly special to not realise that the video is dubbed.

I don't know if that's one, but Chopin was known for modifying his pianos to make weird sounds... So might still be completely acoustic. Of course I also think Chopin basically made the worst sounding piano music of all time and was only regarded as any good because it was different.
If you didn't IMMEDIATELY
IMMEDIATELY realize this was dubbed you should probably take a good look at yourself and find out where everything went so wrong.

Actually, after seeing this

for one second, I actually thought it might've been true (but then, Chopin's concerto title appeared). After 4'33", it would be the next step forward though.
Don't you be dissing 4'33", that is an amazing study of the sounds that occur when all sound is attempted to be made quiet.
4'33" is insulting.

i think you're confusing Chopin with someone else, he was known for being one of the masters of romantic music
not modifying pianos, i don't think he's ever done that???

i'm pretty sure he didn't modify his pianos. he became popular after playing in french salons which were events where intellectuals with varying backgrounds would mingle.
also "only regarded as good because"? he's an enormously influential composer whose music has persisted for almost 200 years. today it's pretty much impossible to go your whole life without hearing one of his iconic works of music. furthermore, being "different" is how music progresses. artists break the rules and conventions of their art form to create new genres or techniques. tons of artists like liszt, brahms, prokofiev etc were all inspired by chopin's work.

Chopin's piano music is overplayed people love it so much. His sonatas, ballades, and etudes are practically requirements if you're pursuing a graduate degree in piano performance. He wrote primarily for piano (plain acoustic at that - he was alive in the early to mid 1800s) and set the standard for romantic-era piano music along with Beethoven (before him) and Liszt (after him).
For modifying pianos, you may be thinking about John Cage. Cage was around in the 1900s and sometimes wrote for prepared piano. Don't knock modern music, though! So many people won't give dissonance, atonality, and new techniques a chance.
and John Cage wrote some beautiful pieces lol:

I'll be impressed when he does this

Yeah except Chopin is usually regarded as the best pianist of all time, and with good reason.

There is no 'best' pianist of all time. Chopin was great, but Liszt could sight read his Etudes better than he himself could perform them. You'll find cases like this every time you find the supposed 'best' pianist.
Liszt, for example, met a young Georges Bizet who could reproduce entire compositions upon hearing them once. Then there was Saint-Saens who had the combined talents of Liszt and Bizet. There are hundreds upon hundreds of these cases, with modern pianists like Zimerman and Perahia (among many others) being able to play anything, both musically and technically.
Schmoe, are you studying music in university? I think it's pretty amazing how much you know about this.
I took it serious, but then I noticed that it was still playing even after his hands were moving to new keys. 0/10 broke the immersion shitty filmography.

Yes, as a concert composer and pianist. I don't want to come across as 'that guy' who corrects things - I just think the real stories are interesting.
To be on topic with the video, though, I laughed my ass off when his hands were just sitting there and the MIDI recording was flipping out.
it is interesting but you don't have to show off GOSH
