"Racism is real as fuck, ain't no way to play that up"
I'm not disagreeing, but might there be a better way to put this? It doesn't sound good to listen to, and if someone genuinely doesn't believe racism exists in modern america, I doubt it's going to change their mind.
if someone genuinely doesn't believe racism exists in america, they're probably too stupid to listen to reason in the first place

It's a hardcore song, not a fucking essay m8.

You don't really seem to have a grasp on what Ice-T or Body Count is about. They are not a neutral observer party.

that's not really what body count is about
He looks really unenthusiastic in the video but at least the message is good.
fuck why is Ice-T so cool
This is good but I'm worried it could be misinterpreted to promote some "us versus them" sentiments in younger black people, which is something that can be seen in a lot of younger campus BLM groups.
What kind of statistic is 47% of hate crimes are racially motivated. Aren't all hate crimes racially motivated?
Going to honest, that came off as really edgy in a cringey way.
What kind of statistic is 47% of hate crimes are racially motivated. Aren't all hate crimes racially motivated?
There's hate crimes on homosexuals, women, disabled people, elderly. probably different political affiliations

Hate crimes aren't solely against race. They can be against someone's sexuality, religion, ethnicity, etc.
This is shit honestly, the message is too forefrontal and simple it doesn't really make you think; It's just Ice-T yelling random stats at you whilst some ill-fitting rock beat blasts in the background. But then again Ice-T has never been a Mos Def.

I do love how this song and video in general isn't just about racism, but about the real issue that's behind even it-the extreme economic inequality that exists in America.

When the racism has now gone from behind the scenes to forefrontal, the opposition needs to adopt the same technique. Having subtle anti-racism tones in the media does not help undermine the shameless, in-your-face racism that has taken the world by storm as of late.

Unfortunately your opinion on it means shit because you have an agenda.

Lol, ideologue much when I'm just saying the artistic presentation is edgy as fuck?
I actually wish I had an agenda.
Then I might actually put more effort into things with plans and contingencies. :v:

C'mon mate, your political slant is transparent everywhere you post. I'm just saying you should work on playing the neutral observer a little more if you want people to hear you out on subjects relating to BLM.
I saw these guys at a metal festival like two years ago, had no idea Ice-T was in it so it was crazy seeing him, it was actually pretty good, he knew how to hype up the crowd.

Even neutral observers know BLM is a shit/lost cause group so I don't think appearing unbiased will change that.
I think I rather be real and honest than try to put on some facade of being unbiased. Do I dislike BLM? Yep. Do I need to like BLM to validate that Ice T and gang doing a heavy metal political song with that cinematography just comes off as edgy? I don't think so. The video could have been about Pro gun Rights and it would still be edgy and cringey.
Maybe you should work on not outright dismissing people's opinions on the presentation of a video because of their political stances.

Anyone can assert anything they want to, it doesn't make it more true.

Sometimes the point of the punk/metal aesthetic is to be edgy. If you don't like edgy, that's fine, many people don't, but why criticize something that was meant to be edgy for being edgy?
Sounds like a shit/lost cause criticism coming from someone who can't stand the idea that an artist might want to do a song with a message that isn't dickriding Trump and the far right.

Your rebuttal is linking me two videos with still images for their videos, when I was actually complaining about the presentation and cinematography of the Ice-T video?
I think you are missing the point that I am not tackling the lyrics with the edgy arguement. I like plenty of songs with political messages that I agree with or don't lol. Song is catchy if it's catchy.
Ice T's music video ain't no SOAD/Serj Tankian music videos considering both got "edge" but one doesn't make me cringe from it for example.

My rebuttal is pointing out that there's no reason to criticize something for being edgy when the intent was likely to be edgy, unless you actually have another motive for criticizing it. I'm sure you don't actually believe that the cinematography used was accidental, do you?
The other two videos are there to point out that if you like this style of music (metal with social/political commentary), then those two songs are also songs you'd probably like. They're not related to your post in any way.

Not gonna lie, I had no intention to listen to this song in the OP.
Then I saw you recommend a track from Nevermore's Dead Heart In a Dead World album (my favorite album from one of my favorite bands).
So I gave the song in the OP a listen.
Honestly, not nearly as bad as I feared. Though I'm not sure Nevermore is a great comparison. Rage Against the Machine is definitely, though.
I think a better comparison would be a combination of the lyrical content and vocal rhythms of Clawfinger's Wipe My Ass with the musical composition and vocal delivery of Carnal Forge's Burning Eden (though a bit less harsh):

I agree, it wasn't the best comparison, but I was only looking to introduce other metal music with politically driven lyrics into the equation. The Jeff Loomis factor really tends to separate Nevermore from the rest of the metal scene in most respects.
If Dead Heart in a Dead World is your favorite album, then you have fantastic tastes.

I don't have a problem with the message they are trying to get across but I feel like their are more intelligent & entertaining (it is music after all) ways to go about it. Like artists like Mos Def, Tupac, Immortal Technique etc. have done.
Mathematics by Mos Def is one of my favorite songs not only because I think it genuinely sounds great, it's got a good beat and the way he flows just sounds good to me. But the subject matters it covers too; surveillance, oppression, multiplicity of perspectives and plenty of other small details. I don't think the message this song is trying to get across is bad, I just think the execution is but that is just to my tastes, I'm not going to crucify anyone for liking it themselves.
i expected gangster rap but was blown away by this awesome shit

I rarely dismiss opinions based on political stance but when you feel the need to comment that the video comes off as edgy despite "edgy" being a mainstay for the metal genre it really just feels like you're trying to find something to dislike about something you just want to dislike. You can be real and honest all you want just don't expect everyone to think your real and honest opinions have any worth to them.
Watched halfway through vid, seems like a lot of garbage really. A lot of the statistics they put in are slanted. OK a cop kills someone every 7 hours, how many of those were justified, stopping a crime, etc etc. I really hate this BLM bullshit, I don't disagree that racism exists, it certainly always will. Institutionalized racism? Someone hasn't given solid proof on that one to me yet.
Honestly the message should be 'Poor lives matter', so many blacks in poverty resort to crime because of the culture poverty creates, and that's just not a skin colour issue, it's an economic issue. People just tryna make it a race issue.
