This is quite out of the ordinary, which is why it's on his wife's channel.
so in the end he kind of liked it this game looks kind of fun tbh :v
Anyone know if this is more in depth than the princess maker games?
God, this brain would melt my fucking brain with all of the choices. I'd be fucking paranoid by the end of the night.
Anyone know if this is more in depth than the princess maker games?
I've always felt like the princess maker games were more like "Dick around and see what kind of an ending you get" This one is more along the lines of "Dick around and hope you get to see the ending" Essentially you level up skills, and these skills will set flags at points throughout the game, and certain combinations can kill or save you. It's very much trial and error, and often you won't be able to see how various events connect until you redo them with the necessary skills to pass the checks, which will reveal parts of the story to you. Comparing Princess maker to this game is like comparing Skyrim to a roguelike. In the former, you can just play from beginning to end the way you like and dick around, but you can never really lose. In the latter, you have to plan shit out and one wrong move will reset everything.
I had seen this game featured on the Steam store so many times, even in the big ads, that I had to check it out. I had to understand how an anime game that hints at tentacle rape in the screenshots (http://feministfiction.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/ded.png) could possibly be so frequently featured. And after playing it, I still don't get it. It's a cheaply made, overly complicated game and isn't very fun. When I say overly complicated I don't mean it has depth. It's all about just bumbling through it, dying from things you can't predict, and then playing the entire game over again. Each time you play it you just modify your mathematical formula on what classes to take and hope to survive whatever killed you last time. It's just a numbers game, and not one you can possibly plan in advance for. Didn't study field medicine? A stray arrow kills you. Didn't study dancing? You trip and crack your skull. You forgot to study falconry, a falcon claws your eyes out. It's absurd. Each area of study is a branching path leading to 42 different skills and if you just happened to not know you needed to study the trade subgroup of economics rather than the accounting subgroup then you die of starvation or something. I mean look at this shit: If you don't study all of these in just the right order, you're screwed. Throw a convoluted mood system that influences how well you learn each skill on top of it and there you have it, Long Live the Queen.
Here's his WTF is? of the game
If you don't study all of these in just the right order, you're screwed.
That's not true. There's a lot of ways to pass skill checks (e.g. an early one with a maid running down the stairs and almost crashing into you can be passed with either elegance or reflexes) and, for your arrows example, you can pass it with reflexes + archery, you can pass it with composure + battlefield medicine or you can simply not go to the party at all. Hell, even the late-game skill checks can be passed with a lot of different checks. There's a lot of ways to play the branching story and stay alive with different combinations, you just need to kind of plan out what kind of princess you want Elodie to become and don't become a "jack of all trades, master of none" that ends up dying. Some of them are also red herrings (e.g. the economic skills are unnecessary if you don't plan on getting the golden ending)
I knew the first thing he would do is check the options menu
His wife is so adorable.
You can be a duke and a king at once though. But this looks very very weird...
Seven hours played and I've yet to survive :v:
"I was your first graphic designer" "Yeah and look where that got me" "You married me" ]HOLY LITERAL BIGGEST ZING

Heh, seems a lot like a visual novel but with some degree of gameplay?
Heh, seems a lot like a visual novel but with some degree of gameplay?
Apparently there is a lot of gameplay/interactivity
yeah, the first time i got to him I literally had 0 magic and I used that option and it failed as well, ha
Well yeah but you're still alive so it kinda counts. But if [sp]You tell your dad to train against Lumen users and always incarcerate/kill Lumen users, he will train himself in the arts and just straight-up blow anime antagonist 2k13 to kingdom come during the duel[/sp]

Before I kind of wanted to play, but wasn't sure how steam telling all my friends I'm playing a pretty princess game, but after looking at some of the achievements, this game is just too hardcore for me. So much executions and dead friends and torture and forced marriages- I can't handle this shit.
Some fuckin' Game of Thrones shit; the subject matter can get pretty grim.
