Any reason the game looks very cartoony now? It looks, strange... Also I wish that they added in some of the cut colossi instead of just rehashing the old ones, but I guess those won't be seeing the light of day.
In all honesty if they plan on charging $60 for what is basically just a prettier looking version of the game I'm probably not gonna get it. They seriously need to add some new content if they want anyone to buy. At the very least they could add in a model viewer and some concept art.

It doesn't have the grainy effect of the original since that was mostly there because of hardware limitations I believe, but it certainly gave it a very different look from this.

[editline]penis[/editline] I mean, the cartoonish look might work in the game's favor, I won't play the game (since I don't own a ps4) so I might be completely wrong. But personally I really dug the grainy and dusty look of the original since really helped sell the idea of a deserted and abandoned land.
They're adding a team deathmatch mode.
Don't forget about capture the flag. First person to get the flag on top of the colossus's head
Don't forget about capture the flag. First person to get the flag on top of the colossus's head
That honestly sounds like fun. Especially since Shadow of the Colossus was originally shown as having multiplayer.
I'm staying highly optimistic about this game, hopefully they don't fuck it up. Then again, BluePoint has a good track record with this sort of thing.
Don't forget about capture the flag. First person to get the flag on top of the colossus's head
Youre joking but that legit sounds like it could be a ton of fun.
IIRC... they planned on not only boosting the fidelity of everything... but also adding in as many of the cut colossi as they can from the original concept. There were 8 of them I think. I could be wrong, but new colossi would be a very compelling reason to buy.

On my PS2 it's much grainier, which I think might've made it look more gritty than it really was. I believe HD resolution helps the bleak and washed-out color pallet stand out more, especially when compared to the typical high-contrast "gritty" visual style of most non-cartoony modern games.
PC release when?

The game content is the same as the original version, but all the assets are being remade. It’s the same, but player preferences for controls and such change over time, so we’re working on implementing a more modernized way to play. And of course you can play with a feel of the original version, but what we’re doing is showing how great the original work is, using today’s technology.

PC release when?
Never.
Any reason the game looks very cartoony now? It looks, strange...
You're gonna have to iterate further on that point, because SOTC was HUGELY stylized with the stencil shadows giving wander a cel shaded look. Now he looks the same "medium" as the colossi... Which I'm not sure if I'm a fan of honestly. Tbh, for all the new techniques they're using, they're staggeringly close to the original visuals.
Honestly as long as they fix the GARBAGE inverse kinematics on Wander's feet so his running animation doesn't look retarded anymore, it's an instant buy from me.

That's a lot of work, in my opinion that's easily worth $60.
tbh I'd absolutely love a model viewer
Honestly as long as they fix the GARBAGE inverse kinematics on Wander's feet so his running animation doesn't look retarded anymore, it's an instant buy from me.
No duck run, no buy!
PC release when?
When Sony stops making consoles.
I'm pretty sure this is a remake from scrap without it building on top of the older engine. It needs something more, at least some new unlocks or modes. Hell maybe an alternate ending where you [sp] kill the soldiers while being possessed by Dormin?[/sp]

It's developing a game from scratch, the only thing is you have templates ready. The Final Fantasy 7 remake is guaranteed to be full price as well. This isn't like a Resident Evil 1 remaster, where they just change a few things. Everything recreated in a new way in a remake.
PC release when?
In 20 years when PC's get PS4 emulation.
You can emulate the original PS2 version
You can emulate the original PS2 version
Yeah but PS2 emulation is a pain in the ass. Source: I have only ever played SOTC on a PS2 emulator.
why make new games when you can just release the old game on the slightly better console. In pc gaming we call this an update. And its free.
Hmm, I'm not really feeling the visuals in this one. Prefer the older and rougher look from the Ps2/Ps3 version.
I never played the original so I might pick this up
