I love the visual evolution of the units as you follow an affinity, and the affinity idea in general. Basically promises no two games will ever play the same, which is wonderful
that looks absolutely fantastic. I'm glad it no longer looks exactly like Civ 5 in space, and that they already have espionage as well
I hope the game feels less clunky than Civ 5. While it was a step up from the previous entries, things still felt kind of clunky and awkward to use.
I like that they are still able to add in more gameplay elements. Im interested to see what else they can add to this even if its expansions or DLC.
Civ is always good fun and its always worth my money and my time
I hope the game has proper balance. Seriously the strategies are limited to what you can use in Civ once you increase the difficulty. Spam Range units and dominate.
Firaxite as a resource, hehehe.
Also holy shit those Supremacy units are so awesome.
I wouldn't be surprised if there is an X-COM easter egg in this game.
Back awhile I said there was probably going to be an sectoid as you spot it then it will run away, never to appear again.
Please can the game be more streamlined than what they showed in the video, specifically the Tech development. I know it's only Alpha, but Civ 5 was really easy to get the hang of because the interface was really simple and easy to use, this game looks more complicated.
I hope that the African dude having wires on his forehead because of his affinity means that the leaders will 'evolve', and get weird and alieny or turn into cyborgs or just stay 100% supreme human as the game progresses. That'd be so cool.

Yeah that web system looks unwieldy as fuck, I'm sure after a few (Hundred) hours it'll be simple as anything, but to start with it looks awful
I don't see what's wrong with the web, it has to be large to give us different chances at gameplay.
This looks complex as shit.
I can't wait.

It's not the size, it's just the layout that bothers me. I'm not really complaining, just agreeing with Mouse that it seems like a step back in terms of accessibility
It looks really cool but my favorite parts of civ games have always been the more ancient to medieval stages, so I'll probably still play 4 and 5 rather than just moving on to this.

It's the same thing that annoys me about Endless Space, I much prefer a linear layout.
I love how the leaders visually represent the path their culture is taking.

I don't get how it's not accessible.

Damn shame we couldn't have Space Ghandi.
...High hopes for Religion though.

Maybe they just haven't revealed it yet, but I was really hoping multiple planets was going to be a thing.

the way they were talking about how the different affinities certainly seems like it.
As a supremacy faction we find tying yourself to one planet extremely short sighted
It's just the ideology, doesn't mean they'll add more planets.
It's just the ideology, doesn't mean they'll add more planets.
so what would the point of having a system that deals with adapting yourself, the planet, or your technology to different planets in a space game that doesn't let you go to multiple planets is then
"must you bring old ways to our new home?"
that made a little sad :(

Because it's about that world, in that time period.
There won't be any more planets than the one you start on. One of the victory conditions is [sp]finding out your planet is sentient and communicating with it[/sp] which does not work too well with multiple planets. Plus can you imagine how much of a clusterfuck that would be?
Turns for each civ would take FOREVER.
Diplomacy still seems as bland as it was in Civ5. Either everybody loves each other and we sing Kum-Ba-Ya or we strangle each other.
But everything else looks amazing.
I'm excited for the tech web. I feel like I'll research based on necessity which can make me totally different from the rest. Think about it, in Civ 5 everyone had the same units. At one time or another you all used archers and musketmen. But here you'll be a totally different civilization. Civ V felt you were pretty much all reskins with varying perks because you all went the same way development wise. Here everyone will stretch in whatever direction they need and that is what will make you different.

Not true at all. In Civ5, diplomacy wasn't straight up black and white and plenty of civs would be besties with you for centuries until they decide your undefended capitol and far-away army were a great opportunity to finally get a bit of marble.
Also in Beyond Earth, they've even expanded on the subtleties even more. You can do things like agitate alien nests near a player you might not like, leading them to attack him which will obviously make them a little pissed.

Until someone finds the most optimal strategy and it becomes the best way to win. Civ 5 is plagued with balance issues, it becomes more noticeable in the multiplayer scene and Deity scene.

I still really feel like, playing Civ V, that the AI was, well, artificial. I get that getting immersed isn't exactly Civ's thing or whatever, but it still felt like I was outsmarting a cloud of 1s and 0s and the historical figures were little more than a paper thin mask for it.
