after seeing the gameplay demos, this is more like it
Everyone says it's fast, but it felt so slow. Not saying it won't feel good to play, but it's certainly taking on more woflenstein the new order types of gameplay than DOOM with its open-ended levels and shit.
i see the "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" is becoming a trademark lol
I know they haven't disappeared in games at all, but this really made me think "Man, I missed gibs."
The trailer is significantly darker and faster than the demo they showed on the stream. Especially the Hell level they showed, it was too bright and grey. That lighting and coloration paled in comparison to Doom 3's Hell.
After watching those garbage-quality recordings of the streams (at least I assume/hope that's what they were) this trailer was porn to my eyes.
Man 1st person executions what the fuck? They're best suited for stealth games, or at least after finishing large slow mobs, but not in mowing-down-lesser-mobs-while-jumping-all-over-the-place situations Hopefully you can melee mobs without triggering the animations

This game looks awesome, but I'm not really liking the music. It just doesn't sound like something you'd expect from a Doom game.
I hope Spider Mastermind is in this game.
i'm looking forward to the cyberdemon honestly
Everyone says it's fast, but it felt so slow.
probably because the fov is at like 30
To be fair D4 gameplay looked very underwhelming and boring. If that's how the final version will be, I don't want it.
I hope it won't make me feel bored after a few gameplays
I would have agreed if I hadn't played brutal doom.
Plus, these executions look much faster than the ones in Brutal Doom, and don't seem to break the flow as much.
I'm super concerned about this game. The first video at their showcase was awful, but the second video in hell looked better. Level design isn't up to Doom standards, constant executions take control away from the player frequently, and the enemy designs just aren't that interesting. And they keep saying fast movement, but all the footage outside of multiplayer has been so slow.
I'm extremely on the fence on this. The first video at their showcase was awful, but the second video in hell looked better. And they keep saying fast movement, but all the footage outside of multiplayer has been so slow.
You can see moments of faster gameplay, like when the player jumps from the balcony over the molten refinery below to the main path at the beginning, but it's pretty obvious a lot of this shit's showcasing like Bioshock Infinite or such.
After about twenty years, they finally bring out DooM 3. YaY
The one and only thing I can complain about is the brown, teal and orange colour scheme and seemingly lazy level design. We've only seen two levels so far, so I'm going to hold onto some hope.
I really hope they scrap that stupid health and ammo drop system this has. It removes the tension from being at low health when the next encounter will restore your resources.
This seems like a quake game imo.

tbh it's kind of a good thing to get a shitty player to showcase the game, it pretty much tells the audience that it's not completely scripted and fake.
Keep in mind it's probably being played on the easiest difficulty aka lots of drops and hardly any enemies
Most of the E3 gameplay videos of AAA titles were boring as hell. Like Halo Guardians, Gears of war or Thomb Raider for example. I wasn't sure if it was gameplay or I was watching a cutscene, you just move forward and stuff happens. There are some valid concerns here, but some make no sense; you don't have to use melee attack if you don't want to. It was there in Serious Sam 3 and I only used it to get the achievements. My biggest problem is how linear it all seems. I hope the first video was played on easy/normal showing an early level. The hell level looked much better. Also I doubt the whole game will be just Mars and Hell, that would be like playing Doom 3 again, but without the flashlight mechanic.
Somebody pointed this out somewhere else but in the initial demo apparently he goes around in a circle and there's a part where he could literally just jump up instead but he doesn't, which leads me to believe that it might have some open-endedness
Am I the only person who likes the executions?
