aw shit it's that time again:

If you don't know, it's a week-long live stream where speed-runners play games super fast to raise money for charity on two events held in January and June. They have donation incentives to make them attempt lots of shit in the games, but you can also just donate for the hell of it. They broke $250k last summer, and a million dollars last January, so hopefully they can do that well again this summer.
Here's the schedule: https://gamesdonequick.com/schedule
If you missed something, you can watch it here: www.reddit.com/r/speedrun/comments/28spkz/sgdq_vods_thread/
Here's the donation incentive list+progress tracker: https://gamesdonequick.com/tracker/bids/10
And last link is the Humble Bundle promotion also going on: https://www.humblebundle.com/sgdq
You can leave comments for the announcer to read on the live stream when you donate. The more you donate, the more likely it is they'll read it. The run will also have prize giveaways from time to time that you can enter yourself in for by donating more than the minimum bid for that prize.
Currently they're running Super Mario 3D World. It's kinda cool but I'm waiting for the Donkey Kong Country 2 race later today. Also Notch just donated $10,000 dollars towards the blindfolded super meat boy forest run. Awesomeeeeeee.
Damnit postal I had just made a thread too! :v:
was really excited for this, actually had no idea it would be so soon until like a week ago
Damnit postal I had just made a thread too!
I waited half an hour before giving up on anyone else making a thread. Should've been faster!
These guys are nothing but losers, they don't know how to enjoy the game and just break and abuse it like they deserve to.
Of course I kid, I run a couple games and I can't be more hyped for this.
So hyped for the coming week. Can't wait to see Naegleria's Earthworm Jim run.
Fuck yeah, I love these guys.
Wonder if they can get $1mil this time again.

That was AGDQ, this is SGDQ which I believe got a quarter of that last year.
im so donating so that la-mulana hd is ran instead of the original one, the runner is awesome and the game is also a lot easier to keep up with

Aaah ok, well any money is good money when it's about charity like this.
I've been watching a ton of runs from previous years on their YouTube channel. I'm definitely going to watch this year and will hopefully be able to donate.
Man, last (A)GDQ wrecked me. So many good runs. Not watching SM3DW now though, since I plan on playing it blind some time in the future.
YSG is back, too. Cool. I'll try to catch some later runs and maybe even donate.
You might wanna add the SGDQ Humble Bundle going on right now to the OP, too.
it's a joke considering a "humble" bundle, but i guess if you're going to donate anyway it's worth it
haven't actually looked at the schedule at all, just gonna take this as it goes along
oh they included dustforce in the marathon this time

It's possible, but I feel it's unlikely. AGDQ has all the most known games like SM64, SoTN, OoT, etc., while SGDQ has more of the lesser known, but still good, titles. People generally, or at least in the past, tend to donate more during AGDQ because of the games/incentives.
thank god there's no starcraft 2.
Not interested in most of the games (at least for the first few days). Going to actually donate this time though.
the runner for ape escape 2 has a bowl cut and a dirty stache you kidding me.
thank god there's no starcraft 2.
that was the worst
it wasn't even a speedrun
I'm really hyped for the Banjo-Tooie run tonight, it's my favorite childhood game and I've never seen it speedrun(ran?) before.
The Psychonauts run sounds really interesting. I wish it wasn't so late for me.
wouldn't be the same without YSG
thank god there's no starcraft 2.
it was perfect for sleeping through though!
that was the worst

how long was it on for again?
Damn, I just got back and they already started DK Country.
The Psychonauts run sounds really interesting. I wish it wasn't so late for me.
its a really good run, i know personally because i run it. there's a lot of cool looking skips, i would recommend trying to watch it
oh man, a race in DK2. i didnt even know half the warp barrels in the first one.
Those phrases the announcer says are getting so fucking annoying, I muted it every time on Agdq.
I know it's because everyone haven't heard it but god damn. And you can hear he's reading it from a paper.

3 and a half hours of regular ass starcraft 2 campaign with bad commentary.
