Even though all this "rioting" is going on atm, is this game worth getting into?
Yes it is.

Is it a total grindfest before you can actually have fun, or can you just start out and work your way up? I guess I'll just dl the trial. thanks for the info.

I hate yet to see a video of one of those stations / memorials exploding

If you can do something to piss off a community that bad, to make them waste their time shooting at a space station that sells shit for hours and days on end, something will get changed back.
I've started and stopped Eve a couple of times, I always felt it would be a great game for me, but that there was too much content that was out of reach for too long. Now they've added a bunch of features that are accessible immediately, and they've made it very noob-friendly (by which I mean that they have decent tutorials and a nicer interface, the game is still friggin hard, and I don't think they'll ever make it easy). There are quite a few options right off the bat as to how you can play your character. Keep in mind that Eve is very sand-box, you'll have to set yourself your own goals and find a way of achieving them. There are missions, but they get boring pretty quick, they're more of a quick buck and combat training course thing than the bread and butter of the game. Now is the best time to get into Eve if you feel you've been on the edge. Grab the trial, spend a couple hours messing with the new character creator, then do the tutorials, and figure out who you want to be... Also, Incarna is the first step towards walking in stations, which will make player interactions, trading and corporation managment more interesting. Also, given some of the trailer materiel, I'm wondering if they might even expand it far enough to have some sort of mission type things you can do in-character. In the mean time check out the new character creator, the characters are really expressive if you take a little care while making them:

Its to stocks and economics for me but my cousin really likes it. The thing that really interests me is the legions and the wars even though I don't play the game.
What's happening exactly in this video? Are all the players attacking an NPC ship?
Yes, There attacking what looks like a ccp vessel.
They're attacking ... everything. I honestly wouldn't undock from any of those sectors with anything valuable. That includes a ship or a cheap ship with valuable cargo. The EvE Universe wasn't completely safe before, but right now it's like walking down the streets of Baghdad alone wearing ACU's . You might be left alone... you might not
What's happening exactly in this video? Here's a little bit of backstory, not entirely sure what it's all about, but it's supposed to be symbolic I guess : http://evetravel.wordpress.com/2010/02/23/jita-memorial/

People are undocking from Jita as casually as ever. Yes, even ships. It's not like Baghdad wearing whatever the fuck you said. At all.

What is Rens and why are Titans in Rens and what is a Titan?
EVE online is Unregulated Capitalist Society: The game. And this is what happens when there is a depression.
EVE online is Unregulated Capitalist Society: The game. And this is what happens when there is a depression.
what they aren't upset over the economy they just don't want the company to add in microtransactions, like TF2
EVE online is Unregulated Capitalist Society: The game. And this is what happens when there is a depression.
no it's more like what happens when you try to add a badly-implemented planned economy into a freemarket capitalist economy
What is Rens and why are Titans in Rens and what is a Titan?
Are you referring to the Titan they were firing at? That's the Leviathan of Luminaire, it's a Caldari State Ship that is (I think) over either Caldari Prime or Gallente Prime.

It feels like a waste of time looking at these video's of people attacking targets that can't be destroyed.
Does shooting those actually do anything? I love it when stuff like this happens in EVE/MMO's, not got around to play EVE though.
I guess it's supposed to be symbolic or something if they can't take damage? [editline]26th June 2011[/editline] Yeah but adding pay to win in an already subscription based game which HEAVILY revolves around a player economy isn't good I never played EVE before but I hope they decide to scrap that idea
The memorial can't be destroyed, so it's purely symbolic. It also happens to create large amounts of delicious lag.
And the funniest part is that, by rioting, they're still paying their subscription fees and still giving money to CCP.
Technically there is a time lapse between the months they don't pay their subscriptions. Also the rioters are actually causing some serious damage that is affecting the EVE economy.
so i deactivated a month ago due to monetary problems. look what it turned into when I was gone. oh man.
They can't be destroyed, ingame certain places don't take damage, those ones are in high sec
But they do cause lag.
Technically there is a time lapse between the months they don't pay their subscriptions. Also the rioters are actually causing some serious damage that is affecting the EVE economy.
How is it affecting the economy? I've never played EVE so i'm not sure how it works.
How is it affecting the economy? I've never played EVE so i'm not sure how it works.
Jita (the sector where the statue is) is the main trading hub in the game. I haven't played in awhile but I think the amount of players in Jita right now lags it up so bad that people can't play while there. It would be like everyone running into a market and just standing there and its so crowded and packed you can't do anything or go to any of the stands to buy stuff.
