I hope it's good, not liking what direction they're trying to take it in though.
It got mech swords!
Aaaand now the mechs have swords. I am entirely ok with this progression. I just hope they have enough content on launch this time. An electrical buster sword is cool, but throw in an explosive mega-hammer or flamethrower lance, or even just the ability to box another Titan's ears with your bare robot fists, and you'll be safe in terms of melee content. I might be sounding like a broken record here, but I really feel that the lack of content was one of the big reasons why Titanfall petered out so fast on PC. It's something they really gotta consider while developing this game, even though the electrical buster sword gives me hope that they are.
MY EXCITEMENT CAN NOT BE CONTAINED
The game was incredibly fun, Though it had an EXTREME lack of content i think even worse than star wars battlefront, if they fix that and add a proper campaign or just focus on multiplayer instead of the really shitty "campaign" + multiplayer mashup they had then it has potential

Mech swords though? Count me in. Here's hoping the singleplayer won't be complete crap, and that there'll be more weapons, unlockables, customization, and perhaps more Titan variants, or the current ones being made more customisable.
High Frequency Blades on Mechs. I'm pretty alright with this.
Fuck yeah, about time. Titanfall had so little content that the main thing I took from it was hype for a titanfall 2. Hope this actually has some meat on it's bones at launch.
will there be a single player campaign, because that's the thing the previous game was seriously lacking too
There will be, which is exactly what I didn't want 2 to do. Hopefully it'll be good though.

Titanfall nearly scratched that itch, but the lack of content and Titan variety killed it. This might be the game that I was looking for right next to Dark Souls and a mystical RTS. (Warhammer: Total War)
holy crap, I'm pretty excited. Titanfall barely had any content but the gameplay itself was so much fun that was enough to keep me playing to max out my levels. The AI soldiers running around the battlefield made it feel alot more then it was.
I'm not sure I'm a fan of mech swords for something like Titanfall. Feels a bit silly for these realistic-looking mechs to be carrying something so Japanese Mecha-esque
I'd be fine with a campaign, but it seems to be taking itself even more serious than last time, whereas the acrobatic footsoldier and ridiculous mech gameplay was always very much in "crazy fun" territory for me. And now with melee mech combat it goes even more into "Rule of Cool" territory (100% fine with that), whereas the dialogue seems to be the following a very bland "Hardboiled American action movie" formula you'd be just as likely to find in Battlefield or Call of Duty or other modern military shooters. I guess we'll see what the final product has in store, but Titanfall 1's narrative wasn't exactly something I wanted more of. It was so lifeless and cookie cutter "rebels vs empire" BS that it couldn't have been anything but multiplayer radio chatter white noise and mission objective blurbs in my opinion. No interesting flavor at all. Doesn't fit the gameplay to me. Should have just committed to "Rule of Cool" or "srs 20-minutes-into-the-future scifi bsns" imo.
Not gonna lie, with the setting in the woods and the hard thumping, I was expecting dinosaurs or at the very least, robot dinosaurs.
Feels a bit silly for these realistic-looking mechs to be carrying something so Japanese Mecha-esque
what about this says realistic vs japanese mecha design without knowing about titanfall I'd probably have guessed this was something ghost in the shell inspired
Expect noone to give a damn about it a month after release.
I'm not sure I'm a fan of mech swords for something like Titanfall. Feels a bit silly for these realistic-looking mechs to be carrying something so Japanese Mecha-esque
Titanfall mechs were always like a mix between western mech and japanese mecha art style. I mean come on, they have fingers.
Titanfall was one of my favorite games in 2014 despite the lack of content. If they focus more on a meaningful unlock system and more weapon/upgrade variety, I can see myself playing this for a good long while. They already have a fantastic basis for the game itself, they just need to build on it. The campaign's neat too I suppose because I know there are people that wanted it, but I'd have preferred if they put all their resources into the meat of the game instead. I couldn't give less of a shit about Titanfall's narrative aspect.
isn't titanfall 2 planning to have magic soldiers. edit: yep http://www.pcgamer.com/titanfall-2-details-science-meets-magic-in-a-grounded-dirty-human-world/

(Warhammer: Total War)
Amen. There was a tiny bit of melee from what I recall, but I think it was just the standard utilitarian "quick-melee" thing that, while practical for when you get jumped, just doesn't have the epic clash and sense of impact that comes from two Titans re-enacting the opening sequence of Xenoblade Chronicles. Also, while this might make me sound like a 9 year old boy bouncing up and down on his Thundercats bedsheets (which I might be at heart, but that's beside the point), but I would not object if they added a mode where you could fight giant alien monsters in your Titan. I mean, come on. A lot of us remember Pacific Rim, I feel like some of us want to feel awesome as we smack Gigan about with an explosive warhammer.

That said, as far as I'm concerned, the less grounded the sequel will be the better. Mecha-swords are a step in good direction.

If there's swords there better be fucking drills and pile bunkers
"magic is just technology we don't understand yet" etc etc psionic powers and technomancy aren't exactly a foreign concept in futuristic techno junk
Clarke's Third Law, man. "Any sufficiently-advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic". Pretty big concept in sci-fi, and it's kind of my jam.

Titanfall would benefit more from a pile bunker rather than a lance, and instead of a hammer you should be able to pick up concrete pillars to use as clubs. The military stuff in Titanfall is pretty sensible so hammers and lances don't make too much sense when rockets and guns exist, but a soldier would be more likely to rip a building apart to use as a bludgeon when his ammo gets low. Titanfall was really cool when I played it in the beta, but my PC couldn't run it well at the time so I never bought it. Then it came out on Origin's Game Time thing and no one was playing it any more.
My worry is that they keep the gameplay pace on the the same or even faster level. Titanfall has been the fastest paced fps game I've played since Quake. I would love if they kept the pace but refined the gameplay. Especially the 6v6 player limit.
Have they actually said anything about 2's player count? I know a lot of people didn't like it, but I loved the smaller teams being supplemented with AI. It made the battles feel huge without making it a big disorganized clusterfuck. I'd be down to see a big-team gamemode like Halo had or something, but in general I hope they keep it smaller.
Weird, I don't remember Titanfall 1 lacking content. The only thing I can think of is maps, there were about 5 of them on launch? Got better with DLC, which is now all free. That's about it. The amount of weapons, mechs, cards and general toys was satisfactory IMO. There were no redundancies and everything made for a great functioning ruleset. I thought only the price was a bit high, but I definitely wouldn't add any ballast to make up for it.
