We just light fireworks and bang pots and pans in Philly.
M80s, fireworks, and car alarms because of the M80s here in Jersey.
That's a beautiful soundscape.
I go to my friend's place in south minneapolis every July 4th and new years. Can confirm warzone
Isn't shooting straight up into the air illegal, though?
Pffft, this is a warzone
Isn't shooting straight up into the air illegal, though?
depends on the area. shooting up in the air in a dense metropolitan area, IE: a busy downtown, is illegal. but if you're at home out in the middle of nowhere, or out in the woods, it's fine. anyways, this sounds like a normal new years to me. can confirm that new orleans is a warzone during new years, or 4th of july, or christmas, or even mother's day.
I actually recall an information commercial running some time back during new years which was basically showing some people enjoying the fireworks and then it gradually turned into a warscene with explosions and soldiers. I don't remember what exactly the ad was for but I think it was one of those donation phonelines to feed children in wartorn countries.
Isn't shooting straight up into the air illegal, though?
Shooting within city limits is illegal in most cities.
But where do the bullets go?
Shooting within city limits is illegal in most cities.
I don't understand why it would be legal anywhere
I don't understand why it would be legal anywhere
Oh fuck, here we go.
I don't understand why it would be legal anywhere
Shooting?
Shooting?
Shooting within city limits shouldn't be legal anywhere was the intent of that phrase, I believe.
Nothing beats this though:

glad i live in south-west of the twin cities where not nearly as many timy explosions are had :v:
I would assume most people are firing blank rounds...right?
I would assume most people are firing blank rounds...right?
as someone who lives pretty close to the ghetto, I find this post adorable.
I know it's hilarious to assume gun owners would have that much responsibility. :v:
Where's all the fireworks?
Oh fuck, here we go.
Don't worry we aren't in SH
Moscow New Year is quite loud too, althought i can't find a nice soundscape video to show :(
Sometimes, into people: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celebratory_gunfire#United_States
I hate my country.
as someone who lives pretty close to the ghetto, I find this post adorable.
It's funny how unfathomable some of the realities of American living can be for people that haven't lived here. Not trying to be condescending or anything, it's just funny how.. unique some American cities can be.
really makes me appreciate how good the sound design in Red Orchestra and Verdun is!
Randomly shooting into the air
The guy just said that shooting at all is prohibited within city limits. Saying "that shouldn't be allowed anywhere" kind of gives the impression you're talking about shooting in general.
