Stop posting
So suddenly Facepunch likes Amazing Atheist now? Or is this to be one of those "He's a shit person but it's a good topic" Yeah, I'll listen when they get someone more credible to talk about it than a shit person.
So suddenly Facepunch likes Amazing Atheist now?
shit person.
thats debatable [editline]s[/editline] i guess you cant debate opinions from now
When I saw the title I thought he was going to try and deny social anxiety's existence. I'm glad it wasn't.
Is this thread just going to consist of making fun of the Amazing Atheist or are we actually going to discuss social anxiety?
Most of Facepunch is an unchangeable hivemind that sees the voicer before hearing their voice. By which I mean they always go "HURR I DUN NEED TO LISTEN TO THIS GUY'S OPINION CUZ HE'S A DICK SO HE'S AUTOMATICALLY WRONG"
Banana Anxiety
oh man, I couldn't help but guffaw as soon as I saw that
When I saw the title I thought he was going to try and deny social anxiety's existence. I'm glad it wasn't.
oh come on
So suddenly Facepunch likes Amazing Atheist now? Ignorant? Yeah. Shitty? No. You can still talk about the valid things he says and recognize the shitty things he says.

If you agree with him in the end then I don't see the issue.
So suddenly Facepunch likes Amazing Atheist now? Or is this to be one of those "He's a shit person but it's a good topic" Yeah, I'll listen when they get someone more credible to talk about it than a shit person.
No, but you're being a "shit person," yourself, and are contributing nothing to the thread, whatsoever.
Saying shitty things doesn't make you a shitty person. Ignorant? Yeah. Shitty? No. You can still talk about the valid things he says and recognize the shitty things he says.
i do this often to people that differ from my opinion or are way too radical about it. Helps me understanding from where they come from. Not saying i change my mind after that, but gives me perspective whenever i agree or not.
caring what others think about you yeah doesn't everybody get that?
uh yeah, he mentioned that. He explains that social anxiety is when it overly bothers someone to the point that they think everyone is judging them in the worst way possible.
Posting a TAA video and expecting people to discuss the subject is like posting a Anita Sarkeesian video and expecting people to discuss the subject in an alternate universe where Anita told a man he deserved to get raped
Posting a TAA video and expecting people to discuss the subject is like posting a Anita Sarkeesian video and expecting people to discuss the subject in an alternate universe where Anita told a man he deserved to get raped
There's a huge difference between Anita and TAA. Everything Anita says is retarded horseshit, and sometimes TAA can make valid points.
There's a huge difference between Anita and TAA. Everything Anita says is retarded horseshit, and sometimes TAA can make valid points.
Now you're being about as ignorant as everyone else. If one can make good points, so can the other. Both of them have their problems (AA more than Anita, IMO), but it's no excuse to judge either like that.
Is it bad that the situation he explained in the video is something that I've dealt with? I don't want to jump to a haphazard self-diagnosis but I've experienced this extreme social-awkwardness in my head on many occasions over the smallest things.
Is it bad that the situation he explained in the video is something that I've dealt with? We all feel like that one time or another but if its a constant way of living then i would say that person has social anxiety. Same goes when even if you learn to deal with people in a normal way, like me,and feel like playing a chess game whenever you talk to anyone, it still is social anxiety.
Why does anyone bother posting TAA videos? I personally like him but these threads always devolve into the same thing.
Is it bad that the situation he explained in the video is something that I've dealt with? I don't want to jump to a haphazard self-diagnosis but I've experienced this extreme social-awkwardness in my head on many occasions over the smallest things.
Sometimes I'm led to believe I also have social anxiety. But then at other times I'm led to believe that everybody feels this way.
Oh wow, he put into words how I feel most of the time but could never explain. I hate social interactions because I always feel like people are judging me because I am constantly judging people myself, and so I assume people will think the same for me, for example: Someone is being loud and I can hear them speaking, I judge them thinking "Fuck he's so loud and annoying" but I also over hear something they say and then think "Wow, he really thinks that, what a fucking idiot" and then I get this voice saying "Don't be like that, be quiet, don't talk" and so I never talk and never speak loudly out of fear that someone will judge what I am saying or how I am acting making me extremely shy and causing me to mumble. When in actual fact I look worse being so quiet and talking so quietly that people cant understand me. No idea how to overcome it but this helped put stuff into perspective.
