A friend of mine in Germany decided to add subtitles to this so people worldwide could learn a bit about how games are viewed in Germany.
Its really worth a watch

The problem, in my mind at least, is not so much that violent games exist, it's the minority that can't differentiate between real life and the virtual world. Murder, rape and torture have existed for as long as humans have been on the planet. This is just another example of people trying to find a scapegoat for the human condition.
I would much rather have these games on the market, it allows me to exorcise any violent thoughts I have in a safe and consequence free environment rather than have them welling up inside me with no outlet. I'm not going to go around murdering and maiming regardless but there might be some people out there who might.
If people, parents specifically, don't want their kids playing these types of games then they should take an active role in controlling what their kids play and not, as I've said, looking for something to blame their shitty parenting on. There was the same problem in the US in the 1980's with heavy metal, saying it incited satanic acts and gave a bad role for kids to follow.
I'm assuming though that this type of report is akin to Fox News sensationalism and that most people have the cognitive capacity to see beyond the blatant lies being put forth.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong but they never really put forward a solid reason as to why they want to ban these sort of games aside from "well, you can do things we're not comfortable with in them."
