Does he not understand the irony of doing a video on a 4chan prank, legitimizing the whole thing?
Oh wait, no he doesn't, since he says that "Meme's are modern day art at this point"

They call the plot failed though; because instead of getting hooked by the bait, he used it to make a point. The response has been nothing but positive, doing the opposite of harming his channel.
"memes are modern day art" :doubt:

I would say spending 3:30 + editing time + scripting a whole script on how he's a 'educator' for disposable memes is a pretty good result for a failed 4chan prank.
But normies do kill memes.
An inside joke everyone knows isn't an inside joke anymore, and nothing gets a joke to be overused like the entire internet using it.
Gangnam style was once beloved both here and elsewhere as a quirky Korean thing. Even rage faces were until they were dragged into the gutter.

Considering he makes videos on the successful 4chan pranks I doubt it really counts as "succeeded", seeing as it's just feeding him exactly the content he feeds on.
I hate behind the meme because his channel is the most effortless no research garbage I've seen in a while. Most of his videos are very badly researched, or there is a lack of any research in the first place.
Not to mention how he is such a lazy bum that he regurgitates anything he finds on Know Your Meme. And stupid people fall into it believing he actually puts time and effort into "educating" people. The one job that could save his sorry excuse of a channel, and he happens to be incompetent at it.

Basically Anthony Fantano here nailed this parody and critic of his channel. It's such a shitty channel and I hope everyone realizes that and moves to something actually better and well-researched like Know Your Meme.
I think people really need to apply some perspective here. Not everyone in the world, or even a significant amount of people are exposed to memes as early adopters, nor are they saturating themselves to such a degree that a meme gets old within a couple of weeks. So as the wider internet discovers things, it's going to be repeated as people enjoy something that in their circumstances is still fresh.
And there's nothing "in" about a joke posted on a public forum, whose userbase overlaps with several other popular sites. If you're really going to moan about memes getting plastered everywhere you may as well be spitting into a wind tunnel.
The problem with memes is the further they propagate the more the context behind them is lost. Eventually (and often quite quickly) all context is lost and the people seeing it for the first time don't even know why it was funny to begin with.
For some memes that's fine as the meme itself is funny enough to make an impact on it's own, but for most the context is what made it funny to begin with and posting it in contexts which don't match or contrast the original cease being funny to those who saw the first couple of 'iterations' (for lack of a better word) of the meme.
I have seen quite a few people in my life laughing at memes because they were memes, not because they were funny. I'd ask to see what they were laughing at and they'd specifically tell me it was funny because it was a meme, even when it made no sense without the original context.
I don't care much, I just want them to be well made, but it can be annoying to hear people who don't know what Portal is say "The cake is a lie" whenever cake is mentioned. And this happened last December, there's stale old memes and there's parroting a thing you heard to try to sound cool.
