Remember to watch the whole video first guys.
What is this. I quite like Christopher Hitchens Its long but its worth listening to.
videos like this are so dumb they are all the same
Brilliant. It sucks in any religious bastard thinking it looks down on it then puts up good arguments for it. It brings forth the good points of religion and the good points of atheism. It however has the problem of also dropping those people that would really like it because of the start. But it's kind of a situation where you can only get the one or the other.
What is this.
It seemed like the argument was if god is good and the world sucks so much, how could there be a god?
Thats really awesome
It seemed like the argument was if god is good and the world sucks so much, how could there be a god?
Wasn't it more in the line of the classical "I think for myself and don't expect a religion to do so for me"? It brought forth some of the good points of having a religion. The comfort it can bring to human minds, the ease and relaxation it can put up on one because you have your afterlife secured. But it also brings forth horrible things such as belief wars, a bad afterlife if you don't do as it tells you to and believe and blablabla, nothing new.
Wasn't it more in the line of the classical "I think for myself and don't expect a religion to do so for me"?
Yeah. It keeps saying things like "Atheism has never inspired anyone or brought them hope", but that's because you're supposed to do it yourself.
Richard Coughlan is a fucking idiot.
This is really beautiful, in my honest opinion.
that was cool.
I liked his voice, not so much the video.
It seemed like the argument was if god is good and the world sucks so much, how could there be a god?
Also, isn't the point of being on Earth a test to prove we can stop fighting and arguing? We're doing a pretty damn bad job so far.
Carl Sagan was not an atheist.
Also, isn't the point of being on Earth a test to prove we can stop fighting and arguing? We're doing a pretty damn bad job so far.
You mean we're supposed to... Sit around and do nothing when we don't earn money to live? Just agree with everyone and live a peaceful life?
The visual aid in the video wasn't very helpful but he raised many different and interesting points about religion and atheism alike. Great video.
Christians by their very nature are selfish. Let’s put it this way, would Christians follow Christ if there was nothing in it for them in the end of the day? I think not. There is a reward at the end for them. How can you live for god when you are basically living to secure YOUR own fate…
You mean we're supposed to... Sit around and do nothing when we don't earn money to live? Just agree with everyone and live a peaceful life?
That's just my interpretation, I'm not exactly 100% skilled in the Religious Arts.
I love how at the part where it says "It won't protect me from hate and lies" it has a picture of Jesus Camp. (See the other thread about Jesus Camp, what nutjobs.)
I don't believe in religion. I only believe in reincarnation
This is correct.
Also, i can see that most people din't watch the whole video before rating.
That's just my interpretation, I'm not exactly 100% skilled in the Religious Arts.
I'm not even 10% skilled in religious arts. And I have no idea what you are trying to say right now. I did refer to it as your idea.
either that or facepunch is full of religion
I think religious morals are the best morals... Edit To a certain extent.
I'm not even 10% skilled in religious arts. And I have no idea what you are trying to say right now. I did refer to it as your idea.
What I'm saying is ( and this is my way of saying it / opinion) that what we do, how we do it, and how we spend our time is the real test. Do the best you can but don't break your morals and principles.
John Lennon wasn't an atheist.
People who believe something, believe it. People who don't, don't. There goes about half of the wars in the world. I'm christian, but I don't go trying to convert people everywhere I go. Everyone should just mind their own.
Carl Sagan was not an atheist.
Uh, yeah he was.
Ray Comfort wasn't an atheist.
