I'm all for equality, I think anti-racism, feminism share a common goal, to see discrimination based on something ridiculous like skin tones or gender out of this society, because that kind of discrimination really is based on absolutely nothing. Therefore I think it should be called equalism because both movements strive towards equality.

Let's lump huge groups into homogenized pools and think we can label them all with the same trait because that isn't the backwards thinking that groups like feminists are trying to stop

see i don't know if i'd trust someone who isn't aware of the existence of egalitarianism to dictate what feminism may or may not be. and the thing is that gender issues are very very closely intertwined, so much so that feminism helps fix them by proxy. so for example, you fix one issue for women (like the idea that they're intrinsically better parents, which puts pressure on them to act in certain ways), and then that affects men positively (so more perfectly decent male parents start getting custody of their kids in divorce cases).
the deal is that feminists don't like those stereotypes any more than you do, so it's important that you understand that rectifying it is always the goal. with all this in mind i don't think the name is at all a big deal. just think of it as regular egalitarianism with a more specific goal.
We devote too much of our lives into our economic system to ever be happy. It's sad that the moment either happiness or money are brought up, it must coincide with the other.

And to be fair, about material possessions; I'd say [i]most[/i] advertisement is targeted toward females, probably for a number of reasons (one likely being that they are often seen as more social than their male counterparts). Advertisements are brainwashing, which goes on virtually anywhere you can see and/or hear. Their entire goal is "How can I make people think about [b]my[/b] product".
